Clemson just flat out wasn't prepared for Duke. It was supposed to be a cupcake, but the cupcake punched them in the face. With all that talent, this is on the coaches.

I'm not sure the age demographic holds water any more. I have quite a few friends my age(>65) that have cut the cord for cost savings and because of the dearth of entertainment.
ETA - Both of my daughters(mid-30s) have cable-like packages. One youtubetv and the other DTV streaming.
It appears to me that the value of broadcast rights has already peaked. The next few years are going to be very interesting for ESPN. They(and their parent co.) know that the current business model is dying, but they can't seem to get a handle on the future. DIS itself is a massive dumpster...
I read that for sports other than football and basketball, the west coast schools will play east coast schools in Dallas at the SMU campus to help with travel.
My guess is that UNC's main objection is that expansion would further dilute their power within the conference. IMO, that's the best feature of this proposal...
