Quite the opposite - Johnson was the master of making the most of what you're given. I seem to recall many here claimed his early success at GT was due to "Chan Gailey's" recruits.
Their out of conf(including us) was a joke - with the exception of Clemson. Their conf schedule is nearly hand picking the worst teams in the SEC. This Saturday will be interesting, unless the Bama team that played Auburn shows up.
One trait of a CPJ option offense is that it moves quickly. The modern "pro" RPO is a slow developing offense that we just don't have the OL for. I know it's a hangover from the CPJ years, but the slow mesh with RB would have me yelling at the TV. You can't hold the ball that long when your...
Again, I would love to see that game. The mighty SEC doesn't look that great this year. UGA hasn't really been tested and Bama couldn't score on Auburn until the 4th qtr. The SEC Championship game will be must watch TV.
This - a real football coach would have built his system around the available athletes(the Rumsfeld doctrine), not shoved them into a system that they weren't recruited for. That's a big reason why the Citadel game sticks in my throat. It was obvious then that this bunch couldn't coach, even...
You're using SEC as an acronym for basically 4 schools. If you look at the entire BCS/CFP era, the so-called "SEC dominance" is basically those 4 universities. What the SEC does excel at is hyping themselves and providing a very entertaining product for ESPN...
Stansbury's lack of communication skills may indeed be his undoing. From KS latest article on GT:
He probably should have expressed support for Collins a bit differently....
Would love to see it, but the SEC only schedules against each other and cupcakes. Check out Bama's non-conf schedule for '21. At least the September "Kick Off" games have forced some interesting non-conf match-ups.
Pretty sure Stansbury is not dumb, maybe more than a little egocentric.
Understand your point re:Godsey, but there was no offer. KQ got that wrong. Just an initial contact with an "I'm good" response.
Nobody, but Collins and Stansbury(and maybe their spouses) know the answer to your last...
Pretty sure that it was meant as a message to Collins. The short term goal would be to pick up capable coordinators and, if the trajectory doesn't improve next year, fire Geoff mid-season and name the OC as interim. Then you're early in the coaching carousel cycle.
The sad thing is that so much of what posters here want to see and hear from Stansbury, he cannot do. HR matters must be private and he must appear supportive of Collins up until the moment that he announces that Geoff and the Institute have parted ways and the most that he will say after that...
