  1. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I have no knowledge as to how this works, but I would expect that it is not unreasonable for an AD to be involved with the second round of DC hires. Seems fair to give the HC a chance with his own people, but if that does not work, also seems fair for an AD to be involved going forward. This...

Hiring folks like Tavaras Hardy and Reveno are evidence that ADs should not be involved? Ok. Good one.
  3. Jeff Sims

Seems like the answer could be situational. In a game where we need a game manager, ie one we should win such as against NIU, Yates makes sense. Games where we need big plays to win, such as UNC, likely UGA and ND, etc., probably need to roll the dice and Sims. Understanding you can’t make week...
  4. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

It is not uncommon for an AD to step in on hiring decisions like you are suggesting. According to folks on this board, it happened at GT a few years ago when we hired Pastner. Apparently the AD was very involved in selecting assistants. And before that, when Al Groh was forced on CPJ.
  5. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

We should just raise prices to some obscene amount. If UGA fans are going to come anyways, price gouge em.
  6. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

My problem with P has been his situational play calling, which I guess is easy to criticize with anyone with the benefit of hindsight. And I don’t think he does the best job adjusting. But statistically our defense has stunk, although this weekend they did enough to keep us in the game through...
  7. question about CBK

Haven’t seen anything out of him while he has been here. And before that, the least memorable thing he did was bad mouth GT on the recruiting trail, so whatever.
  8. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Perhaps. I’d be more embarrassed about losing to NIU or having an empty stadium on national TV for the UGA game then getting crushed by UGA as they are rolling everyone. So would be silly for that to tip the cap. But you are probably right.
  9. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I actually don’t think anyone (coordinators) gets fired at the end of this year. If someone does, it’s a concession that the coaching is not up to par, and that major improvement better happen in next year or so. And I don’t think that is the message we are going to send CGC. Once we send that...
  10. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Why not P? Thacker gave up some yards today but defense is what kept us in the game, with some key turnovers. Frankly our defensive penalties were probably the most damaging thing today, sustaining drives early. P play calling was terrible today. First down was a wasted down today—so...
  11. Jeff Sims

Yes. He was playing more coverage last year and IMO struggles there.
  12. Jeff Sims

You don’t get it. Thomas played great as a FR. He was misused and out of position for the past two years—not sure why. Now that he is back in the position that the prior staff had him in as FR, he is playing well. So yes, he was wasted. The rest of your post doesn’t even merit a response. I...
  13. Jeff Sims

Sims problem today was play calling. No favors from the staff today.
  14. Jeff Sims

Yes. That’s exactly my point. We wasted two years of him.
  15. Jeff Sims

Several. I’ll give you one example: Charlie Thomas. Wasted two years in Collins system.
  16. Very Interesting interview by Quez Jackson on the play of defense in post game Interview.

if it keeps happening over and over and over again, then whose fault is it? the players? Or the coaches that keep playing the same players that result in that situation?
  17. Coach Dave Patenaude

Lol. If your only response to someone is that they are a troll, then you have no response.
  18. #GTvsDUKE Postgame

IMO, Patenaude came in with a good game plan and scored twice early. Duke adjusted and he didn’t. Last drive was great but that was Sanders making plays. My hypothesis is that Patenaude comes into all games with a plan but unable to adjust mid game.
  19. Sims=Bilbo

The OL was not great but not terrible today. Even when Sims had time, he didn’t look great. But would rather have these teachable moments come in a close win than a close loss!
  20. The morning after

to be fair, if we had confused Pitt for even two plays, as you suggest, we would have been much better off. Both of those plays were INTs = 14 point hole.
