  1. Staff Changes

When you mushroom someone, you keep them in the dark and feed them s***. Better description of what's going now with Tech football, say I.
  2. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Ah, what could have been! When Paul was here he had two prayers: "Please, Lord, in your infinite mercy, send me another Adrian Peterson." And the Lord did. He sent Dedrick Mills. And Tech used a set of arcane and outdated rules to kick him out of school. "Please, Lord, in your infinite mercy...
  3. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

He got the fourth star after he led -- nay, willed - Milton. to the state championship. After watching those games there was absolutely no doubt.
  4. New Game Plan

I'm not so sure. See: I think the same kind of thinking is endemic in college football, with a few exceptions. That's one reason why I liked Paul so much. Tech is just like Oakland in the film. If we try to compete directly with the Yankees (Bama, Ugag) we lose. It is an unfair game. What we...
  5. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

I went there. Believe me, there's nothing else to do in Columbia on Saturday. (Well … if you don't like the occasional fist fight, that is.) It's kind of like Tech was before pro sports hit Atlanta.
  6. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

I'll hark back again to the Army/Air Force game. Both teams ran Os that were unlike Paul's spread option in many ways. Both had many formations that looked more like what the Falcons run when they have Ryan under center. And both teams ran shotguns about 1/4 of the time. This kind of stuff isn't...
  7. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

I forgot to mention that The Boss was very much against my going to the games. But she didn't have to twist my arm too hard.
  8. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

Yes! Both Nebraska under Osborne and Colorado under Crowder ran an "I-bone" with great success. Tech could too. I don't know if Monken would do that if he came to Tech, but I wouldn't be surprised. Sims would kill in that offense, btw. Btw, I watched the so-fine Army/Air Force game a couple of...
  9. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Just an aside: I haven't gone to any Tech games this year. Reason: the virus. I'm 75 and I don't like the prospect of sitting among a bunch of people yelling their lungs out when I don't know how many are fully vaccinated. Even with a booster the risk was too great given the probability of...
  10. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

Bad news, but not completely unexpected. I thought he'd stay another year then leave, but you can't blame him. I don't think anybody who knows football had missed his talent, so I don't think his pro prospects were what led to this. More that, as a college player, he wants to win. You only get...
  11. Not a bad idea. Especially for some teams we know …

See: https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2021/11/decision-making-under-cognitive-pressure-examples-from-football Campos is a law professor, but he's on to something with this. Take a look.,
  12. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

Ok, but he's a walking skelton who can coach. But Collins wouldn't take him for the obvious reason: if the team continues to fail, they'll fire him mid-season and give the job to Cutliffe. This will probably - you heard it here first! - happen anyway, but the transition decision would be a lot...
  13. Does uga have a weakness of defense

No. This has been another in a series of simple answers to simple questions.
  14. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

Maybe … unless nobody who anyone thinks can pull our chestnuts out of the fire is willing to take the job. I've said before that right now Tech reminds me of GSU when they fired Sewak. They also went through a 4 year Purgatory under their version of Collins - VanGorder - and Chris Hatcher then...
  15. Cutcliffe Out at Duke - Coastal Chaos

I think Monken would come to Tech, but maybe not. Army has been a great post for him and they'll fight tooth and nail to keep him. Oth, Bohannon would come to Tech in a minute. Problem = consistently winning big at KSU won't be a big attraction unless - as might be the case - everyone else we...
  16. 2021-2022 off-season

    1. We don't. We need players who can block and move. What we have is porkers who can't do either one. Even players we have who can do both - Minihan, Lay, Cooper - have gained enough weight to become immobile. 2. Strength and conditioning has been a major focus of the present program. And … one...
  17. 2021-2022 off-season

Oh, come on! Isn't it obvious now that Ol transfers aren't cutting it and, to be frank, neither will the overstuffed OLs we are recruiting? I watched some of the game today and a few things became obvious. First, the SEC transfers we brought in can't block. Second, Collins's own recruits can't...
  18. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Yes, and while I doubt Moncken would leave Army, I think Bohannon would come to Tech tomorrow. But let's try both and see, shall we?
  19. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Yessss. Paul sent new plays in every down and never had a problem doing it. I'm at a loss to see why Collins has this problem.
  20. Jordan Ponchez Mason

Mason is a horse and a great player. Also, as I've said here before, he is exactly what the pros are looking for these days. I expect to see him starting somewhere in the NFL in next two years. I also expect him to have a great career regardless, putting that Tech education to use!
