Maybe someone already posted this and I missed it, but I found this very interesting. CPJ wasn't impressed:
Gotta love ole CPJ! And the potential of this new staff!!
ETA: An extra reply from CPJ. Time to get the popcorn ready!
We've had 3 recruiting classes now and there seems to be a downward trend, not sure how anyone can expect us to get a top 20 recruit anytime soon. We're a few years removed from the ACC COTY season now and our best recruiter was told to leave. His replacements have not impressed so far.
The problem is the timing is terrible. If you go to other stadiums where it's actually done well it sounds great and gets the crowd way more hyped then the band playing songs.
As much as some fans don't like to hear it a lot of kids don't want to play in our offense. They want a chance at the pros and the perception is if they come play in the TO it makes that more difficult. If Elliott came here we would have the same amount of money, and yes he would recruit better...
Didn't CPJ add him to his staff and then he got fired for an arrest for driving while high? Don't remember exactly, but that may be why he doesn't speak too highly of him.
I know he's our highest rated recruit in years but what have you seen so far that makes you think his skills are "incredible?" I know he's only a freshman so he will continue to improve, just not sure what type of player he is supposed to be yet, maybe you have more insight.
You may be right, and if so they probably don't truly believe what they are saying. You know how the internet is.
On the other side of the coin, it also gets exhausting having numerous people keep repeating that we have to keep the TO or that we MUST get Monken or Bohannan. No thanks, there...
The offense was great and nobody denies this, but it also resulted in us having a terrible defense for 11 years. So people are optimistic that with a better defense, even if the offense isn't as good, we will still have plenty of opportunities for big wins and games that are fun to watch.
You know there are other offenses besides the PJ offense that we can be successful in. I think most people replying to the concerned people are just wondering what is the point of being so concerned? PJ left on his own, it's not like we fired him. I guess some people just love coming on internet...
Some fans like to imagine all of our athletes have to take hard classes and are up studying until 3 am every night without any help from tutors. This helps us feel better when we lose. In reality, we do have a few of these guys such as Lammers or Bedford but they are rare.
For the people who want to keep running the CPJ offense, what makes you think his successors will improve on his success?
Based on what I'm hearing about big money donors, no chance that we are running the TO next year.
