  1. My first post: Crootin'

It happened in 2014, no? They entered that game ranked 9th.
  2. My first post: Crootin'

Not sure if anyone’s noticed, but no one is beating UGA and Clemson these days. Perhaps I’m a pessimist, but even if our goal is to win every game by 100 points, it’s probably not the most reasonable expectation. For now, perhaps a better benchmark is Carolina. They hired a new coach the same...
  3. Next year's expectations - wants/needs

Collins himself said this would be the last Christmas break for him for a long time, or something to that effect (the thread with the link the Quinlan interview had that), so I think that’s a reasonable expectation for next year.
  4. Poll - What is a reasonable amount of time for Collins to be given?

I’m not sure lowering expectations three years out is the strongest endorsement of Collins, but okay.

I mean, hell, go back and watch the VT game that season on YouTube. The throw before the touchdown to Smelter that tied it should have been picked. Hit their DB right in the hands.

I agree with that, with the understanding that one day Miami is going to hire the right coach and when they do, they will be almost impossible to beat, too.

I think, depending on our non-conference schedule, .500 give or take is probably about where we’re supposed to be. I’ve said this before, but it’s why I liked Paul. He gave us the boom years. I’m fine going 6-6 for four or five years if the sixth year we go 10-2 and beat uga. We should be...

Probably worth pointing out that we got lucky with injuries that season. Like our entire offense stayed intact the whole season until Smelter’s knee exploded (Snoddy before him, which was too bad because he seemed to be finally coming into his own). I’d say that reverted to the mean the...

Yeah, there was luck in all of those. The most forgotten play of that season was fourth and 15 at VT. We converted (not bad for a team that didn’t care about passing). There’s luck all over the place. But generally, if you’re beating teams by more than about ten points, it’s not lucky. It’s...

It’s exactly the example I want to use. I think Braine was right. I think it’s almost hopeless to think we will win ten games a season. If Collins wins 11 games twice and nine games twice in a decade, I’ll be elated.

I am ambivalent about the system we run. I want whatever helps us win. My comment about the Rays is that they don’t sign big free agents. They sign their younger players to long contracts before arbitration. They do things differently. The lesson is that we should be willing to be different...

How you reached that conclusion is a mystery to me. My point is that like the Rays perfected the shift and prioritized defense, it might make sense for us to use similar tactics. A good example is Iowa State. They’ve come up with a defensive scheme to play to the strengths of the kids they...
  13. Georgia Postgame

It’s just a joke. And at this point everyone is saying about everything so it has no meaning anyway.
  14. Georgia Postgame

    Yeah. I mean wtf.
  15. Georgia Postgame

It’s not, though. It’s about an approach. Moreover, you’re making the point for me. If we are that limited, then why on earth would we try to compete with teams that have obvious advantages on their own turf. It makes no sense.
  16. Georgia Postgame

I get that. I think that’s a fair criticism of those individuals. It is not a defense of the current coaches though. I don’t give a s—- if we use cheerleaders, either, as long as they put their opponent on their ***. I think the issue here - and I’m afraid it’s not going away - is that we...

Okay. Well I haven’t missed a home game since the 2008 uva game. We could probably use some more disappointing fans.
  18. Georgia Postgame

I accept that attendance has deteriorated over time. I didn’t intend to say that it’s exclusively on Stansbury. But he has the power to make the game day experience less sh—ty, and to say he has failed is an understatement. It’s expensive, and it’s a pain in the ***. As an example, I brought...
  19. Georgia Postgame

You’re the one who said it’s undermining the staff. Presumably they care about that?
  20. Georgia Postgame

That’s an indictment of Stansbury, not me. He’s the one with the half empty stadium every week home to a team that lost two games by 45 points and lost another to a 1-AA team to put a cherry on this **** sundae of a season.
