I was worried about the following during preseason:
1. Devine not being ready. I haven't watched replays like others but seems to me he has played pretty well.
2. Linebackers -Macordes and Davis. They haven't been bad - in fact pretty good.
things was not worried about
1. Thought bbacks...
I think the same. Recruiting is 75% of the battle and we have some good players but hardly any 4 and no 5 star guys. I don't believe CPJ recruited Smelter. He was on the baseball team and hurt his arm. He turned out to be very talented receiver and very important to our offense but you can't...

I guess I get where he is coming from, but I think it reflects what is wrong with the current system. Is the idea to play a lousy schedule so you can be undefeated? Playing...
Thanks for the write-up. My feeling is that it is very accurate. I have not watched the film (usually do) but what you say is what I saw despite drinking a couple of margaritas during the game. The two things that stood out to me from a coaching standpoint were: 1) ND changing formations...
My perspective
1. Plain and simple - we got beat
2. OLine wasn't good but neither was Thomas with some of those crazy plays he tried late like his flip forward and on purpose fumble - don't do that JT
3. Defense better and encouraging but still gave up too many huge plays like long pass and 91...
I would bet almost anything we will run the Aback counter. for two reasons - the defense I expect to see from Van Gorder will leave that play wide open with no linemen over the guard and his defense will be flowing hard to the ball which this counter works well against. Navy used it on them...
I watched the film earlier today. I am most interested in seeing the action between CPJ and Van Gorder. Not because of the fussing between them, but because both have a lot of history coaching offense and defense and the matchup should be interesting- my notes from Navy game
- VG started with...
I agree abacks look good but we need to see them against better competition to know for sure. We had a couple of years in there of 11 and 12 where they were not good blockers orwin included. Godhigh could and why begin playing and then he turned out to also have some wiggle. Hard to comment...
Good comments about Saban being Nixon like in his desire for control. Good analogy. That aspect of him is a the core of my issues with him. Some of the guys on my list I don't hate but just dislike and Richt can't help it - he just coaches the wrong team. As far as Va Tech, I remember being...
Buttcliff - huh - He's like your old grandaddy that says crazy stuff but gets away with it because everyone assumes he doesn't really know what he is saying
Before the season starts - just have to put this list out soI can hope they lose
1 Jim Harbaugh - Michigan - please lose - this is not a guy I want to have a beer with
2. Fedora - I have never liked him or thought he was a good coach given his ability to lose to teams he shouldn't like Rutgers...
I had noticed it - not bragging - but just saying. Roddy Jones said something to the effect that golden was the only one out there and I thought to myself he missed that one. #41 was out there as well.
