McCollum going into the portal tells me Key was told flat out he is not getting hired. McCollum was one of the first players to push for Key to be HC after the game Saturday.
As many have stated, I think it would be best in terms of retention to hire a new coach ASAP (also best for me cause I hate not knowing). However, if we are waiting for championship games this weekend before announcing a hire it is not the end of the world. We will likely have more players enter...
Sims played hard for Key and even played hurt in the UVA game until the medical staff made him sit after he further injured himself in the game.
In the last part of the season he WAS injured and we were told that he needs surgery to fix his injury. So even if he was "medically cleared to play"...
Based on my sources we already signed a contract with BOB.
I do have others sources however that said Chadwell has signed a contract.
Then again my other sources said we are keeping Key and he has already signed his contract.
Maybe I should find sources outside of this board 🤷.
It came from an AJC article by Jeff Schultz. However Ken wrote one saying Chadwell and Key had been interviewed without a mention of BOB. I trust Ken way more than Shultz.
I disagree. If the players love Key the way they say, then they would be motivated to send him out with a win if he was not named permanent coach and still coaching them for the bowl.
I caught that too. I think it shows just how frustrated he was with the way Collins ran the program. It also tells me that hiring Key IS a departure from the last regime. In addition, it's only Thacker, Key, and Knight that are from the original staff so there is already a change.
After every loss I am ready to move on from Key, then I watch the next week's press conference and start to think he may not be so bad. I feel like he COULD do well if he gets a better staff (primarily on the O) and if he is given an off-season to implement his system and philosophy. Honestly, I...
I 100% understand being done with Key, but playing Gibson was not his choice. Sims is obviously still too hurt to play and Pyron went out. The only other possible option is the guy from Clemson who is likely not available or not prepared.
From what I read, he has had chronic back issues following an injury and it got to the point this summer that he needed to get surgery. Due to the recovery time with the surgery he would not be able to coach THIS year so he had to "retire" from UAB. That being said, assuming his recovery went...
It's sad but true. I don't think there are any great teams this year. Even the gaggers are not as good as last year but they are less not as good as everyone else.
I think most WANT both but the reality in this college football landscape is one (at least) will likely transfer out. The question then is, if only one transfers then who would you rather keep?
I do not agree with the last sentence. There are plenty of candidates out there that have been talked about for 117 pages but I would argue none are "excellent head coaches available". Everyone we have mentioned has some positives that make them a good candidate but also have glaring questions...
We have tossed a lot of names around and honestly I am not sold on any of them. They all could just as easily flop as succeed.
I am curious however who are the top candidates out there for a major P5 program HC position? For example if Saban or Dabo decided to retire this year who would be the...
He didn't play well at all but he definitely isn't the only one to blame for the terrible offense the majority of the game. However, the last play is all on him and is inexcusable. To top it off in the presser he basically tried to justify giving up on the game and then didn't even own up to it...
I don't see why we don't offer things that still align with Tech's academic direction but can be attractive to athletes. For example we have a top notch management program, so why don't we offer one of the best sports management degree's in the country. We could also look at degrees along the...
