From what I heard a few weeks ago, they are close or met the goal, just reconfirming some of the pledges. Stansbury did mention it on his podcast this week, saying those gifts are earmarked for specific purposes so can't be used to fill the budget gap.
Ball is in SEC's court now for non-conference game. If I understand it correctly, the ACC is allowing a non-conference game as long as it is played within the state (including your home stadium), so GT could hypothetically add UCF back as long as it is at BDS.

2007 was the last year of the Orange Bowl. That was also a win (17-14) against Randy Shannon in his first year. My recollection of that 2005 game is that it had been moved from Oct due to Hurricane Wilma, and they had to bring in some temp lights for the night game due to damage from hurricane.
