    Week 8 #UVAvsGT Media

I absolutely love Coach Key’s sincerity in his responses! He plays it close to the vest when need be, but I like that he addresses the questions directly as much as he reasonably can, even if it’s not a flashy or snappy response. Our previous coach would just regurgitate talking points, and his...

RB coach Mike Daniels has resigned

I doubt it’s got anything to do with the GT football program. As others have mentioned, there’s no upside in leaving midseason for reasons related to football or job satisfaction (unless it’s a retirement, which I doubt). It’s probably for health or family reasons. I hope Coach Eley is able to...

    Coach Brent Key Scenario

I find it silly to assume that McGee will do well recruiting at Tech just because he did really well recruiting at georgie while ignoring that Brent Key was named recruiter of the year by one of the big recruiting services while he was at Bama. Brent Key is not new to recruiting I just read an...

The consulting firm is to make sure we are doing our due diligence and getting the necessary information so that we can make the decision for the right reasons. If anything, it would increase the confidence in hiring Brent Key (if that is indeed what happens) because it would mean that many...

The New Pandemic: Roughing The Passer

Watching some of those calls, I can’t help but wonder if the refs know what a “passer” is. If the ball hasn’t left the QB’s hands, then he’s a ball carrier, not a passer. Geez!

    Official Postgame: GT 23-Duke 20

I think that’s the kind of thing we should do at Tech. We need to run an offense that is similar enough to the NFL that we can still recruit well and give the defense good reps against something similar to what they’ll face most weeks. Air Raid would work fine for that purpose (the Seahawks just...

    Official Postgame: GT 23-Duke 20

I feel you on that. When we were students, Tech gave us an attitude of “Figure it out for yourself, you baby!” I remember there being an announcement during commencement regarding how to donate to Georgia Tech as an alum, and we were all thinking “Really? We haven’t even left our graduation...

    Andrew Thacker

My theory is that CGC is good at the X’s and O’s but is not good at structuring practices or running a program. At Miss State and UF, his worst impulses were held in check by Mullen and McElwain. It seems that his scheme is still quite sound, and that’s what Thacker picked up from him. So now...

    Coach Brent Key Scenario

I would think that most of the offensive staff would stay, since Brent Key is the the only one who was brought in before this year. On the defensive side, I think it depends. I don’t imagine Key feels the need to have 2 DL coaches (Knight and Turner) while having no dedicated LB coach.

    Andrew Thacker

I thought I saw Williams go back in, but you’re right. Having to play with the 3rd string right guard makes it difficult to run the ball. Hopefully no one got seriously hurt, and we’ll be back to full strength by the time of the Virginia game .

I think they’ll come back faster than you think. My VET (student mentor in band) said she and her husband (another band alum) wouldn’t attend another Tech game until “Gilderoy Lockhart” (her nickname for G**** C******) was gone from the program. And I’ve had numerous other friends express...

    Coach Brent Key Scenario

If I were the one making these decisions, here would be my thought process: If Key gets Tech to a bowl game, he gets an interview. If Key wins 6 games, he gets considered among the finalists. If Key wins 7 games, he gets the job. If Key wins 8 games, he gets a big contract. Anything less than...

That would be a very good scenario. Our reputation would be improved, and we’d probably get some buyout money. We’d be in a much better place reputation-wise and financially than we are now, so we’d have more options available to try to hire the next head coach.

    Stansbury and Collins Dismissed

Yep. TStan learned the hard way that you shouldn’t let people make decisions for you if you’re still the one who will be held accountable for it.

    Stansbury and Collins Dismissed

I’d agree with that decision. On the off chance that Key manages to get us to a bowl game this year and then manages to do so for a couple more years, it certainly would help us get into a better financial situation while restoring our reputation back to a point where potential hires don’t view...

    Stansbury and Collins Dismissed

I guess my hesitance with Key is this: 1. Will he be that much better than Collins that it will be worth the extra $3mil? 2. The OL has not been playing well up to this point since Key was hired. Now that the whole team is his responsibility, how can we expect the OL to look any better? 3. The...

    If a change is made...

It’s not common because it puts not only more responsibility on the coach/AD but also puts more of a burden on the president. Plus it gives the football coach less accountability than the basketball coach who now reports to him. The last thing a Tech coach needs is to have to worry about all the...

They were. But NFL and College are different animals. There’s a reason that the list of head coaches who have won both a National Championship and a Super Bowl is very short.

    Stansbury and Collins Dismissed

I really hope the rumors about Key either are false or that he’s the choice because he’s the only one who wants the job. I’d much rather have Chaney try to right the ship. He has the best resume for head coach out of all the people on our staff.

    If a change is made...

Bill O’Brien would be a great coach for us! He’s been a very successful college coach in the past, and he’s coached at Tech before, so he understands the limitations of the school.
