I think the rule mentions so many years after high school, not so many years of college. Player could theoretically skip college, sit out and still play in the NFL.
I would not use GT as a barometer for this. We actively use quality of education as a selling point. We actively seek out student athletes who still believe in the student part.

Because they’d simply work for a school that didn’t require it. I don’t think everyone would require it and compliance wouldn’t and couldn’t be enforced.
The players can’t be employees and students at the same time. So if they’re employees, does that mean they stop the pretense of being students? No more class. No more degree. You’re like the janitorial staff. Only you make a **** ton of money.
I agree with you on this. What are they being paid for if it’s not to play for team x? Is it celebrity endorsement of a product or service? Is it for showing up at autograph signing events? These things kind of sound legitimate. So what is the need of a collective anyway? Banning collectives...
