I question how true this part is after the hirings of Pittman and Beamer to SEC programs. In the past I'd agree but maybe there's a new perspective in the industry
It's a gambit that might be worth a try and for over a million dollars in savings why not? But if I could take odds on this I'd bet the farm it will never happen.
Does anyone have an example of this happening successfully? And not just a restructuring of the payments but a negotiated...
There are a bunch of ideas floating around about negotiating with Collins to make the buyout more amenable or bringing in a coach but structuring the contract so it doesn't go into effect after Jan. 1, etc. etc. I have no idea how feasible some of these are (my gut is telling me not very based...
I haven't checked a ton of other contracts but ones off the top of my head that have differing dates are Scott Frost and Justin Fuente.
Frost's buyout was set to drop October 1st and the Huskers infamously chose to payout nearly 8 million dollars to fire him 3 weeks earlier. And we're fretting...
All this talk of money and you'd hope that between Butker, Waller, and Calvin they'd chip in some to see their team relieved of this mess. But who knows, maybe they already have/do
I enjoy the discussion of who could be the next coach but have fully accepted the fact that I have no idea who would work.
During the last search I thought Satterfield and Neal Brown were excellent choices.... and they have not worked out.
Sam Pittman? Who tf is that? What a clown...
I would worry how that affects coaches that we'd be looking to hire. "Come coach our team and sign this contract we don't have any intention of fulfilling"

Assuming this is the correct document (looks like it) it unfortunately looks like the buyout drops January 1st.
Relevant language:
"Contract Year: Unless otherwise stated...
UNC last year was the last fun game. Clemson right before that was fun and frustrating as well.
Louisville was fun in 2020. Seemed like a breakout game for Gibbs.
FSU in 2020 was fun. Seemed promising
That run we had against VT was fun (2016-2018?).
Last fun season 2016
And what is the date for the end of the season? Jan. 1st is "after the season". As fans we might all think it's obviously after the uga game but it's going to be defined within the contract. My livelihood is spending a ton of time parsing contract language, I'm not convinced by one article...
It would be helpful to see the actual contract language. I've searched and haven't been able to find it, probably need to submit a public records required and I don't want to do that much work for message board posturing.
Everyone's aware the buyout drops at the end of this year, but I...
Waiting until Jan 1st to fire a clear failure of a staff is waving a white flag on the football program at GT. Any hope of salvaging or putting together a recruiting class is gone for another year. At that point who knows what coaches are available. Once you hire someone that late in the game...
