Hard to believe that Tech couldn't win six games in a coach's third year to earn a three-year reset.
We've just seen that happen, of course, but we're talking about making a better hire or fire scenario.
But make it four if you must. Same rules apply.
Three-year contract automatically renewable for one year if the team goes bowling. Three years without a bowl: fired.
End of Year 1: No bowl = no extension. Two years remaining. Bowl in Year 1 = reset to three years total remaining.
End of Year 2: No bowl in Year 1 & 2 = no extensions. One year...

Seriously...does this give you hope that Tech might really be committed to greatness on the field as well as in the classroom, etc?
I wasn't expecting to beat Pitt. Or anyone besides Duke for the remainder of the schedule. So, he's already one-up on my tally sheet.
And Duke has played well enough this year to make me nervous. Winning that game is anything but chalk for us.
If Coach Key does well but DOESN'T get the job, it will be because someone thinks we can't afford to wait 3+ years for him to achieve success.
Instead, they may want to go for Sanders, Chadwell or someone who will be expected to turn things around overnight because of the cachet of the hire...
And why would a 4-5 star athlete want to play 3rd string at [football factory] when he could start somewhere else?
How does riding the bench on Saturday get him on the field on Sunday?
After the Ole Miss game, he was asked about not getting many touches. He said, "You'll have to ask the coach."
At the time, I thought it was the good answer given he was put on the spot by the press...though it was obvious he didn't agree with the decision to minimize his contribution.
