  1. Coach Prime to Colorado

That it is too early tell anything conclusive about either one of them.
  2. Former GT Players

In many ways, I think Sims was and is misused. Why he needs is a coach ho will take him aside and say, "Son, you are a running QB who can throw. We are going to put in the same O that Caldwell uses and teach you how to work it. You, both, need to get it through your head that you are going to...
  3. Loudspeaker Volume at Bobby Dodd

I was uneasily reminded of the last time I heard the speakers this loud at Tech. It was a "feature" of B*** L****'s time at the Flats. Let's just hope that it goes the way of the "Juice Box". Soon.
  4. GT @ Ole Miss

There are. They play in Starkville.
  5. Postgame GT 48 : SCST 13

Yes, and we just lost the player we thought would step up to give us more of an edge on the DL. The injury Gods aren't helping us much this year.
  6. GT @ Ole Miss

My favorite on Ole Miss. It would have been impossible for Christ to be born there because it requires a virgin and three wise men. For all that they are my third favorite team, right after Tech and the Good Dogs.
  7. Postgame GT 48 : SCST 13

Game impressions. First, my son and I went to the game, but after the second delay he called it and we went home. Where the game wasn't on tv. So all this is based on watching the game film. The Good • We ran the ball well. We do need to decide on who will be the 20 carry guy, but it was ok...
  8. Postgame GT 48 : SCST 13

Ok, I know I'm a broken record on this, but there should be a separate category in the stats for "tip interceptions" that credit the D player and don't penalize the QB. Pyron didn't throw an interception; the DL made a great play to get into the lane. When that happens you could blame the QB...
  9. Conference Realignment

The big thing about Army - Navy this year is that the C of C trophy is almost certain to be won by … Air Force. Why, you might ask? Because Calhoun is still running the spread option and it looks like he has the QB to do it. I.e. for all the whining about rule changes, you can still run the O...
  10. Missed Tackles

Since AI has come up, I'll post this: http://bactra.org/weblog/ The first post is about Farrell and Shalizi's article calling LLM systems shaggoths. As they point out, LLM systems are just the latest of these: markets, corporations, states, bureaucracies came first and do pretty much the same...
  11. Win Total Predictions

I never expected us to go into the Wake game as a favorite and I'm surprised that anyone else did. It's away against a team that is averaging 7 - 8 wins a year. Mind, I think we could beat them with a decent D game. Their OL is as doubtful as ours. Good D however.
  12. Former GT Players

Those Hisker teams threw the ball a lot, about as much as a spread outfit today. But … yeah, running the ball was number 1.
  13. Win Total Predictions

One thing: after last night I think a lot of the win/loss predictions need readjusting. Duke no longer can be a predicted win. Clemson can no longer be a predicted loss.
  14. Injuries

That's bad. Let's all hope it wasn't that bad.
  15. Can we talk about Haynes King last night? What are yall's thoughts about him, our offense going forward?

As I said earlier, King is no second coming, but he is a decent P5 QB. I think he would be more effective if the coaches let him run more. More outside option plays - those were generally effective - and some draws as well. We might even try some good old fashioned Tobias Oliver style QB sweeps...
  16. Conference Realignment

To quote my research methods syllabus: "If you are diligent, you cannot fail htis course! There will be many opportunities to recover from an occasional poor performance (there were, btw). If you are not diligent, you had better be ready to have your friends butter you up because YOU WILL BE...
  17. Louisville Post Game

Well, I said that the one thing you could predict was that the game would be ugly. It wasn't, particularly; it was a prototypical first game, but Tech didn't look too bad and we almost won. I only saw the first half - thanks, Disney - and read the box score, but here are some impressions, good...
  18. Conference Realignment

Being effective at teaching is different at post-secondary institutions. It has to do with what the place is trying to do with students. In high school, teachers work very hard to getting students to learn the basics. This means they do a lot to try to "engage" the students and get them...
  19. Louisville Post Game

Ok, I was only able to watch the first half - thanks Disney - and look at the box score. Very disappointing loss, but here are some impressions, good and bad. The Good: • The WRs are a capable group. Throw them the ball, especially, as said above, Singleton. • King is decent and could get...
