  1. Which of these 3 has mess up college football

I agree with reinstating the one year to sit out as a transfer. The one possibly exception might be around coaching changes. In most cases players pick a program based on relationships with coaches vs. the school
  2. Potential DC for Next Year

you bring in a new DC and change out several defensive coaches 2 years in a row you will both blowup recruiting on defense players and likely have a number of defensive players transfer again. Players hate constant change and losing the coaches who recruited them and have relationships.
  3. Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

Why everyone is havig this debate King is rated 4th best QB in ACC per ESPN. The 3 QBs rated higher are FSU, UNC and Miami. I don't think those schools are debating the right time to pull their QBs.
  4. Haynes King Update: How Do We Feel About Him?

King obviously still throws into coverage too much. But he plays incredibly hard and makes some spectacular plays. He is fun to root for!
  5. Brent Key is not the answer

I also think the defense is struggling because of the inconsistency of a hurry up offense. If you have an offense with no huddle, going 3 and out is a killer. So having more consisency on the offense of end will definitely help the defense. I think that is part of the reason we have struggled...
  6. In honor of Paul Johnson being at the game tomorrow... what's your favorite memory from his time as coach?

The 3O was tough to defense only because PJ got the players on the team (oh yea those 3*) to execute. He did that at Navy as well. My in person best game was the ACC Championship in 2009 in Tampa. That was a terrific game and we actually won with a DL making a play at the end. In terms of...
  7. Brent Key is not the answer

And the other issue is a .500 season gets you in a bowl game. That was not true historically. Bowl Games in 1940: 5, Bowl Games in 1949: 9, Bowl Games in 1950: 8, Bowl Games in 1959: 8, Bowl Games in 1960: 8, Bowl Games in 1969: 11, Bowl Games in 1970: 11, Bowl Games in 1979: 15, Bowl Games in...
  8. Everything Wrong With Ga Tech football

but I was surprised that every othet team includine ones who are at the bottom of the pack were .500 or higher at home. Playing at home is an advantage for 13 out of 14 ACC teams.
  9. Boston College Post Game Thread

30% wins at home since 2019. Every other team in the ACC is at least .500 at home. Even teams that really struggle at least are more competitive at home. We are basically the same home or away.
  10. Everything Wrong With Ga Tech football

OK I did this fast so probably some mistakes but I think reasonably accurate. I looked at records for all ACC schools from 2019 to current. This excludes post-season (bowls or playoffs) and includes Mercedes games which are home games for GT. Every ACC school other than GT has at least a .500...
  11. Boston College Post Game Thread

m I was at the game and I thought decent attendance and fans were in the game until the disastrous 4th quarter. I think fans were overall there today. But moving forward we will see.
  12. Win Total Predictions

i switched to 4 wins after today. UVA or Syracuse but Clemson, UNC and UGA look like sure losses
  13. Boston College Post Game Thread

With this loss we could easily be 1-6 at home. The only home game with a realistic chance to win is Cuse. I know we have dominated UNC but they are on a roll and will have revenge on their mind. I fear next week could be brutal.
  14. Boston College Post Game Thread

When you have a fast pace offense that is very inconsistent, the defense can be on the field way too long. That seems to be the mo of this team. It also could be player rotation. But I also think we are way outschemed with halftime adjustments which is all coaching
  15. GT UNC game time

i would prefer not to have 8PM on ACCN. With ESPN in control of the network would mean the game getting over close to midnight. I normallt take Marta and that would be a little dicey
  16. 2023 ACC News & Discussion

article on thoughts of acc football schedule in 2024. https://richmond.com/sports/new-acc-football-scheduling-model/article_6c57cf30-67df-11ee-b164-6bd7e7a91da9.html Variable crossover opponents per team (0 to 3) sounds insane until you reinforce the bias towards the NC schools.
  17. Brent Key is not the answer

I am not sure it is easy to compare Key to any other GT coaches at this point. The ACC is significantly weaker than the SEC or Big Ten in terms of recognition (which has definitely changed dramatically in the last 10 years). Pile on top of that transfers that don't have to sit out a year and...
  18. 2023 ACC News & Discussion

I really think the best way for the math to work is a 9 game ACC schedule with 2 permanent crossovers. That means you play the other 14 teams twice in a 4 year period..one home and one away. The trick is how to alternate 5 and 4 home games in consecutive years. I think some of the first...
  19. Upcoming Boston College game

When you have a team of average talent, swings in performance can be big based on desire. I think we were very flat, gave Bowling Green confidence and couldn't adjust in time to make a difference. I think we were proud of our Wake Forest accolades and didn't take Bowling Green seriously. There...
