    Paul Johnson era signature game

having a competent PK makes that decision tougher too. Do we still go for it on 4th and 1 from the 27 or do we try the FG? Etc. PJ got that call right a few times and missed it a few others, like almost every other coach in football.

    Paul Johnson era signature game

as long as it's not on our own 35 in the 1st qtr! If you have a weapon at P like we do and a good D, punting can often flip the field to your advantage.

    Paul Johnson era signature game

End of 2014, Orange Bowl. It was his best-called game on the biggest stage against one of the highest-ranked teams we'd face during his tenure. The O was never stopped. Even the D played well, all things considered. It was the pinnacle CPJ-at-GT moment, IMO.

    Thank you, Paul

I think we'll be beating 2 of those 4 next year. If, however, we continue losing to them, it won't be any different than it's been for the past few years.

    Thank you, Paul

My predictions? Please list them. I do agree that the PJ fans will be clamoring for his return and this will happen regardless of Coach Collins' success. They've done little but heap dispersion and doubt upon our new coach before we've even seen the Spring Game. Frankly, it's disgraceful.

    Thank you, Paul

if so, we'll still be losing to Duke, Pitt, Clemson, and the mutts, which will be just like the good ol' days of the Paul Johnson era!

Petition: Use Gold as a Primary Color

I couldn't sign it quick enough. It's time to get rid of navy blue.

    Thank you, Paul

if he's not been hired by now, given his recent success, I don't see what 2 more seasons' difference will make. A B!G school won't go down the PJ TO road.

    Thank you, Paul

I doubt he'll find that guy at whatever non-P5 program makes him a better offer than what Army is paying him. No P5 program will go in that offensive direction again.

    Thank you, Paul

2010 - year 3. Failing to capitalize on the momentum of 2009 and again in 2014 were 2 of PJ's bigger failures, though the 2010 and 2015 seasons were bad for entirely different reasons. It's interesting in hindsight that PJ's 2 worst seasons were ones that followed his 2 best seasons and both...

    Optimistic about the defense? Why?

I'm hopeful (not quite optimistic lol) that our defense can only improve with the recent hires from how bad it's been over the last decade and welcome the change of direction in the program. Any change is preferable to the malaise we had settled into. I didn't see Woody as any real improvement...

    2019 Offseason Thread

agreed. My Dynamics prof was horrific. Only 5 out of 20 original students made it to the final. That's not 'hard' - that's Bad Teaching. My Calc IV "professor" was a TA.

    Reservations for this season

totally lol True but nor are VPI, Louisville, and FSU the same that they were 5 years ago. ;) I don't think UNC has improved. Wake is still asleep though. ( I know this is about the Coastal - just wanted to get my shots in on FSU, Louisville, and Wake)

    Reservations for this season

Initially, esp if it proves decently successful at moving the ball, I think most fans will enjoy seeing more usage of the forward pass, just given that it's been 11 years of an offense that mostly did not throw the ball. I'm sure most fans will be glad to not watch so many QB keeper plays every...

    Reservations for this season

Let's see...in order of how you asked: -My reservations: QB/WR play, OL, New Defense -Attendance: 43K+ - no -No concerns for coaching capabilities right now, in February, before I've seen a down played. Yes, he can go .500 or better. As long as we don't bottom-out, recruiting shouldn't be...

Implications of GT being relevant in recruiting

Apples to oranges. A "relevant" fanbase re:recruiting (please define what you mean here) still doesn't mean that this 'relevant fanbase' has any idea whatsoever what ours (or any) coaches are telling recruits in their living rooms.
