  1. Option/Veer Teams in 2016

Davie apparently coaches the option better than he explained it on TV.
  2. AL HS coach fired for criticizing AL

Apparently his unreported -- in this link anyway -- issue is that they offered a scholarship and then rescinded it at the last minute, claiming it wasn't an offer for a free ride but an offer to come into summer camp and compete for a scholarship. That was directly from the Alabama booster blog...
  3. GT / Kentucky Highlights

Sorry. Generally it refers to a receiver in traffic and about to get hit who keeps those elbows tucked in tight to his ribs and doesn't quite get his hands on the ball. Receivers who do that draw down the relentless wrath of the position coach. Now obviously if the ball was behind him it was...
  4. GT / Kentucky Highlights

One of those receivers short arming the ball, you think?
  5. Ranking Every Power 5 Job

I sure would like to see evidence that Clemson hands out $100 handshakes. Even opinions ought have basis in fact. Believing it so doesn't make it so and arguments are cheapened in the doing. NC State's problem seems to be the same problem Maryland had: Dow is the A.D. and there she tended to...
  6. Best Returning RB in the ACC

A question: I think about 6-1 or 6-2 maxes out this offense. I just don't figure a guy of 6-4 or so can be agile or quick enough for the option game under center. But a lot of QBs top out at 6-2, so there is that.
  7. Best Returning RB in the ACC

I think I played QB with this guy as a WR in HS. He's the one who came out of the huddle yelling, "Hit me! I'm open!" Took him six games and no targets to accept that this could be counter-productive.
  8. Ranking Every Power 5 Job

Am I wrong, or is the earth rising? Did I not just read that Johnson ranks in the top five in wins/losses, and I forget who posted "clueless" but it was never more obvious than when the writer brushed past the dull, stody, boring offense -- take your pick, because from another movie line, those...
  9. Best Returning RB in the ACC

Well, sure. There is nothing like a crash course in QB/WR geometry. I buy a partial explanation of quick release -- Clemson has very successful patterns I am told on a one-two-and-out count, and it is why their backup QB threw the two pick sixes two years ago. He held the ball past the count...
  10. Best Returning RB in the ACC

If I had control over it I wouldn't worry about it.
  11. Best Returning RB in the ACC

Has anybody ever quizzed Johnson on this? because again and again, season after season, QB after QB, it is all too common to see a WR wide open down the middle but the throw goes elsewhere. I am just not sure Johnson's offense allows a lookoff or a progression: just fall back and fire. Once in...
  12. GT / Kentucky Highlights

I was starting to feel like an outcast because I still don't think our offense played particularly well through four quarters. If it had then those Kentucky network people probably would have stroked out in the booth watching the scoreboard explode.
  13. Ranking Every Power 5 Job

Anybody who doesn't think Mills would even break the two-deep elsewhere has been out there in the funny weed field too long. Yes, he would start there and elsewhere. This kid can play some ball but once he gets slotted into "the offense" or "bback" then it is like a B movie: typecasting forever.
  14. Ranking Every Power 5 Job

By all means reach out there and get us one of them SEC assistants. Maybe one from Kentucky. Or Georgia. Or Vanderbilt. Or Florida State. My complaint here really is the same losing complaint I continue to have: even here they focus on "academic standard" and fail to grasp course or major...
  15. Combine Invite

Well, there is one other kick that would win praise. Two, actually.
  16. Combine Invite

I gather that there might not be a more cut throat competitive position in the NFL, including QB. Every year really outstanding college kickers get cut loose.
  17. Is This year ours in the ACC?

Are you sure you are included?
  18. Is This year ours in the ACC?

I hope you are right, I really do. But the skeptic in me comes when when I recall 2015 coming off the 2014 season. A major board debate then was how much we would suffer from the massive departure of our skill positions, mostly a wonderful Aback lineup that pretty much was the best group we ever...
  19. Is This year ours in the ACC?

Well, they had one of the greatest wide receivers of all time and yet ... that happened.
  20. Toughest Nonconference Schedules in 2017

If one really wants a brain twister, given that some see beating Georgia more important than winning the big WWII, do we think Tech is better off with Richt gone from Georgia but now coaching at ACC division rival Miami? Frankly I think he can do us more damage at Miami.
