  1. BREAKING: NCAA says state of North Carolina will again be considered for championship hosting....

You lost me at "liberal fundamentalist", AE. Never met one, never expect to. It's not my argument so I am out but that particular description gave me a start.
  2. 2017 Spring Practice

A friend of mine is fond of reminding me when we talk baseball and our particular favorite team dismissing April losses as "too early in the season to worry" , that "You can lose the pennant in April, too, you know." I might dismiss his concerns but he is a GT man. In short, Johnson will go for...

Yes, but there is a certain leveling effect to recall we often have that problem. I'm just glad to see the competition evolving.

Now, that is pretty funny. Unless of course you are the pilot. On the other hand it is at least encouraging that they are trusted, and that they do it, when we remember that 20-year-olds commanded B-17s and Army companies in the big WWII. Remarkable.
  5. 2017 Spring Practice

I will say that were I a QB or BB coached by Candeto, I would be very careful challenging a guy who once flew juiced up jets off carrier decks. And then had to come back.
  6. BREAKING: NCAA says state of North Carolina will again be considered for championship hosting....

Well, it needs to be pointed out to those who weren't fairly close to the situation -- I mean voters who put these knuckledraggers into office -- that the "bathroom bill" was not a bathroom bill at all. It was meant to legalize discrimination in hiring and employment practices, and used the...
  7. BREAKING: NCAA says state of North Carolina will again be considered for championship hosting....

Well, this business of politics v. sports and sports v. politics and games in China and world without Hamlet end amen, as a long-time resident of the once-great Old North State, might I point out that HB2, the bill in question, institutionalized and codified formal and legal discrimination, not...

    'splain Groh please.
  9. 2017 Spring Practice

Help me out here. I know Candeto played the position but how does replacing an experienced spread offense, QB coach with a rookie make it an upgrade? If anything I might argue, though not being close to that scene at all, that Cook was the best friend Justin Thomas had in that position...
  10. MJ vs JeT

That is the Navy model through several generations of QBs it seems, starting with Candeto. Not as glamorous as the pitch, but we'll take the yards and keep moving. And the "slow play the pitch read" is on the money.
  11. MJ vs JeT

My memory might fail as it often does, but just anecdotally it just seems to me that Thomas had more "forward passes" from the last-second (and maybe imprudent) option pitch than any other GT QB.
  12. Tennessee fans already starting to talk about the 2017 GT-Tennessee game

I'm not familiar with the terrain but I hope you are right. Seriously right, because there was a time when Georgia Tech-Tennessee stopped college the football world. if for no other reason I am glad it is back, and the chicken bowl folks deserve a lot of credit for either luck, or institutional...
  13. Tennessee fans already starting to talk about the 2017 GT-Tennessee game

It is all relative, you know. But I seriously hope they all play well, real well, because we are going to put on a track meet. The bigger question mark is that I85 bridge. They could give a game and nobody comes.
  14. R.I.P. Clay Matthews Sr.

If the glass is half full somebody better start drinking faster.
  15. Roster number brakedown for a CPJ offense in the NFL

Football season has to get here sooner or later. It does, doesn't it? Doesn't it?

Guys, Tevin Washington ran this offense successfully for three years, and had an amazing efficiency passing record as well as TD passes. Check out his bio and it will surprise you. And Tevin could not hit the side of the barn from inside the barn. Nesbitt ran it well, and Tevin was more accurate...
  17. R.I.P. Clay Matthews Sr.

too bad Tech was not able to recruit his descendants.
  18. JT's future role

Do you think he really throws well enough? Even in the CFL there is a premium on accuracy, I mean pinpoint, down the field.
  19. JT's future role

There is a word for those who actually like to get hit. I never met one of them.
  20. Tennessee fans already starting to talk about the 2017 GT-Tennessee game

There's a difference in focusing on the next opponent and obsessing about it. We're getting over that line. Audie Murphy can play QB for Tennessee and I don't care. I am focusing on who plays QB for us. If Murphy is back there come Labor Day, now that's a story.
