  1. WSB Trashing TECH RECRUITING

    True dat!
  2. WSB Trashing TECH RECRUITING

To his credit and the players themselves, this seems to be a common thread down through the years about Coach Johnson's teams. They don't quit even when no one would really blame them such as the end of last year. Such character has not always been the case. FWIW
  3. Is signing day the most important?

We are NOT a factory and we cannot recruit like one. We can remove some of the more absurd and unnecessary restraints from recruiting and spend more money and resources. Clearly, we must do better than be ranked in the middle of the pack, especially when the Institute is located in the middle...
  4. Is signing day the most important?

No, but removal of some of the more ridiculous restraints would be welcome.
  5. Is signing day the most important?

Our recruiting is not very good and has not been for a long time. It is, what it is. You are not going to be able to compete with the factories with recruiting classes that are ranked in the middle of the pack.
  6. 2016 Schedule Released !!!!

Don't know about the "myth" business. However, a couple of years ago in Sporting News, I think, preseason magazine for the ACC they had a feature in which several assistants commented on whatever team that article was covering. Of course, they were anonymous but at any rate, one of them said...
  7. Most Players by College in Super Bowl 50

It is on par with a minor miracle to be mentioned in the same breath as the factories. Congratulations are in order to the players no matter what their status for a job well done in representing the Institute. Thank you, gentlemen.
  8. CPJ is a hot head on the sidelines?

All I need to know about Coach Johnson was captured in the recruiting of the North Carolina quarterback last year who suffered the serious head injury. Ratliff (sp?) His high school coach put it something like this: "Tech never wavered from their offer" Says something about character and...
  9. Where would the learned of you place Adam ( I got this!) Gotsis

An unusually quick player for his position. Kind of short but explosive. Very difficult for just about anyone to handle one on one. Similar to Virginia Tech's tandem of short, quick defensive tackles: Luther Maddy and I forget the other one's name. Rock came to us out of junior college and...
  10. 112 Years of GT Football - How Bad Were We Last Year?

Integration was probably the major difference between the Dodd years and what followed. I was merely explaining why he was successful during his time.
  11. 112 Years of GT Football - How Bad Were We Last Year?

He could sell sand to an Arab. Dodd was perfect for an era when parents were much more interested and involved in their child getting a good education. This was prior to pro football being in Atlanta. He was a tremendous recruiter and got top players from across the South. He got good...
  12. We got an "F"?

Pretty much spot on. If recruiting does not get better we may be seeing more of this in the future.
  13. Henry or McCaffrey

Yep, that is him. Great player used in a variety of ways. Too bad, the rest of the team was not that good. He played great in that ridiculous stomping we gave them at Chapel Hill. Vad Lee had a very good game that day too.
  14. Henry or McCaffrey

I would take any of them as a B back for Tech. They are all very good including Chubb. McCaffery's versatility reminds me of that guy at North Carolina a few years ago. Can't remember his name but he was a great player also.
  15. He's Back....

Absolutely ridiculous. Reggie and Tevin did the best they could under the circumstances. They are Tech MEN and deserve respect and admiration from all of us who hide behind screen names and such. Some of these people should remember what it was like to be criticized unfairly when doing your...
  16. Wish we could replace OL coach with???

I do not profess to know why the line played so poorly. Could have been coaching but I am beginning to suspect it is a player issue. More specifically, we just are not that good talent wise. Maybe these stars do matter in the long run. We are recruiting in one of the best states in the...
  17. Year in review. What say you!

Basically the biggest disappointment for me was the much ballyhooed offensive line being terrible for much of the year. Some have cited particular games such as being up 21--0 vs UNC and having Georgia backed up and letting them out. These are all valid. I really thought the defense was...
  18. A Note from Coach Johnson and Mike Bobinski

Tech fans are a peculiar breed. They are extremely loyal in spite of small numbers and focus on things that other fan bases would find amusing. To wit: wrong shade of gold, uniform threads, and the nuances of the triple option. That said, EVERYTHING in that letter was truthful. We did face...
  19. Biggest need for 2016 (offense edition)

I have not seen a Georgia Tech team decimated by injuries the way this one was for more than a quarter of a century. It was absolutely devastating. But that is just me. Some may argue that we should not have let it affect us to the degree that it did except that the notorious 2012 and 2013...
  20. Marcus Marshall - Freshman All American Honorable Mention

UGA is waiting breathlessly for that which may never come. The next Hershel. We too, have our fantasies. Another Dwyer is just around the corner. No doubt, he will forever, be the template of what a Bback should look like but getting one just like him is damn near impossible. I actually...
