  1. James Conner

Damn it, that is terrible. A fine football player too. Prayers sent his way. Hoping for a full recovery. Hang in there James.
  2. The "missed assignments" issue

Football at Georgia Tech has always been a near run sort of deal. The difference between success on the Flats and failure is razor thin. We have, as I currently perceive it, two major advantages: A commitment to red shirting and player development. Quite frankly, there are seldom major busts...
  3. Jeune

He was a two or three time all state player in New Jersey so he came here "highly recommended" but then he let a couple of dogs take the ball away from him last week so who knows? He needs to get stronger, faster, and mentally tough like Smelter. He could be very good if he is willing to work...
  4. Richt's gone

You and BuzzStone (spelling?) have answered my question. The UGA faithful will, in a fashion, harrumph that they will not tolerate mediocrity and should be knocking on the National Championship door every year. If that is what they want, so be it. They should remember that those the gods would...
  5. Richt's gone

An impressive set of statistics and reasoning. But it does not answer the question of WHY. You are right it is simply amazing that Coach Richt has a winning percentage very close to Saban and must be considered the best coach UGA has had in a quarter of a century so why throw away a sure...
  6. Player Praise Thread

I am as disappointed as anyone but it cannot be said that this team quit on their coaches, teammates or their school. For that reason alone, they are praiseworthy. I know I harp on this subject all the time but our problems ultimately are not necessarily the fault of the coaches or the effort...
  7. Is it Possible

Your point about recent recruiting is well taken but offensive line along with quarterback are the two positions most notorious for being difficult to forecast success based upon high school. At any rate, flopping on the ground and blocking matador style is not what blocking is about on any level.
  8. Is it Possible

You are speaking of the "factories". Alabama, Georgia, Florida, FSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, USCw, LSU, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, and the newest member long time wanna be, Clemson. Maybe others and some of those listed above are debatable but yes, it is...
  9. Is it Possible

I am beginning to believe that the O Line problems go far deeper than coaching or injuries or inexperience. They are a symptom of a fatal malady known as "poor recruiting". The symptoms are inadequate depth, poor leadership from seniors, and are nearly always fatal to the patient unless...
  10. Coaching changes?

I agree totally with this assessment. Continuity in recruiting is vital for football. Basketball? Not so much. Besides, the talent pool for coaching is going to be pretty shallow this year with USC, South Carolina, Miami and possibly LSU getting in the deep end. Not a good year to go...
  11. Last Radio Show--Fans or Crazy Folks?

Well, one of the first things Coach Johnson said when he came here was that this fan base was more obsessed about uniforms, wrong shade of gold, throwbacks, etc. of any fan base he had ever been around. True dat. Although, you can get some excitement going mentioning black jerseys at UGA or...
  12. Coaching changes?

Well, it is an interesting proposition. But I am going to offer a contrarian view and say it is not nearly so much the coaching as it is the players or lack thereof. We have no game breakers on the outside. A serious lack of speed at A back. All of which is compounded by the worst cascade of...
  13. Just a question.

Nope, not no way, not no how. I wouldn't root for Georgia with one engine out on the team plane. Well, there are always exceptions but for them, damn few.
  14. Mike sewak

My bad, I was talking about Fletch and his crusade to get rid of Coach Johnson.
  15. Mike sewak

Playing the middle linebacker back 7 or so yards as been a staple of teams playing against the triple option since Jimmie Johnson pioneered the concept at Miami against Oklahoma in a Orange bowl match up way back in the late 70s or 80s. It works great when you have an agile monster middle...
  16. Mike sewak

Give it a rest. It is not going to happen unless you have a few million you want to drop down. Otherwise, forget about it.
  17. Time for a coaching Change

If they are not "listening to the Coach anymore" they need to hit the road. After all, they did come "highly recommended" It's not like any of them are salivating at the thought of being in the next NFL draft. In other words, they are expendable and can be replaced.
  18. Time for a coaching Change

On the contrary, it is time for a "players" change. The coach did not fumble, commit an outrageously stupid penalty, play matador when pass blocking etc. Some guys need to ride the pine or explore other options.
  19. VT Postgame

One of the worst games I have ever seen Georgia Tech play. Thank God Erin Joe is a senior. The offensive line coaches need to be replaced and to think Virginia Tech tried really hard to give us this game. It is sad to see such an incompetent offense this late in the year.
  20. Prairie dog offense - home only?

Anything that works is fine with me. I want to use the clock. I know most teams think that TOP is overrated and archaic in today's hurry up offense but not to THIS TEAM and our unique set of circumstances. Run that bone, use the clock and most of all limit the other team's possessions...
