    Luginbill disses Tech!

Wake me when Luginbill says something to give a crap about.

    PJ's Offense

Laskey originally was a DB, IIRC. Smelter had a shoulder injury, curtailing his baseball career, IIRC. And what of Jeff Greene, Laskey's teammate at Starr's Mill? Is he doing anything at the Ohio State?

Johnson likes where Jackets are at

Man, somebody needs to talk to the copy editors at the Smellagram. By week instead of bye week in the segment about Searcy? Letting "which was decided by a 24-yard field goal by Harrison Butker" through?

Film Study - Offense vs VT

The false starts and a ton of missed blocks did not help last year against VT.

VT Blog's Take on the GT Game

No bigger break than their QB scooping up a fumble we forced and were jumping on top of when Milton get hit and could not corral it. I'd like to think we forced our breaks - Davis' pick because of the pressure and recognizing the middle screen, the defense called on their last play with D.J...

    VL @James Madison

23/43 for 406, 3 TDs, 2 INTs in last game. Also 28-72 rushing last game, a loss to Villanova, who's usually pretty good. They've beaten St. Francis (no big feat) and Lehigh.

Film Study - Defense vs GSU

Give Southern credit for having a very good, very experienced offensive line. That's an almost entirely senior group and those guys have had a lot of playing time in their career. And Southern has always had speed on offense - just ask PJ. But ... the first TD run was a matter of inexperience...

    "It's us against the world"

He says he doesn't pay attention to that stuff but he loves accumulating bulletin board material. There isn't much being said or written about the program he doesn't know about.

Film Study - Defense vs GSU

It's insurmountable anywhere. Especially at Tech. But losing six of your projected top 12-16 or however many DL ... hard to overcome anywhere.

    CPJ

Georgia Southern's defense in 1999 was really good. PJ spent most of his time in spring practice with it that year. The 2000 defense wasn't bad either. The 1997 defense was solid. 1998 ... well, it's a good thing GSU outscored people that year.

Georgia Southern -- Never again (or at least no time soon)

He said offered. But I think some were recruited by Tech, though not offered. The fullback James Dean, a kid out of Glynn Academy, I believe was recruited to some extent. I think we took a look at Ellison, too.

Film Study - Offense vs GSU

Boomergump, thanks for the breakdown, especially for the O line play. Just think - this is just JT's third start and he really didn't play a lot last year. If he keeps progressing and improving .... 40 for GSU is a walk-on, I believe, who has started the last couple of years. Williams (No. 37)...

The Good News After 3 Games

ECU has a veteran QB who is pretty good and they always have had athletes. Even the friends I've had who have gone there called "EZU." For a couple of reasons. So their win over Va Tech isn't that startling. A lot of winnable games - and a lot of games that can be lost, too. Maybe Rece Davis can...

    JT>VL

Like PJ said earlier this week, JT hasn't had 200 live snaps yet. I think he's going to be a good one. If Vad's in the game, I don't think it's 35 points at the half and it ain't a TD drive at the end, either.

    GSU and a Little Perspective

Fritz said after the game that Ellison had hurt his shoulder and didn't think he could go, so they went with Upshaw. And it was working. Until the fumble.

    Congrats from an Eagle

Aside from the bad decision late, there is nothing wrong with Upshaw in at QB. His arm is stronger than I expected. Still would love to see what LA could do at QB, but ... there's enough QBs already. Hope Fritz figures out something to do with Youtube.

    Congrats from an Eagle

JT certainly is going to be very good in this offense. Ellison already is in his. Kid's a baller. I like Upshaw too and today was the first time I got to see a lot of him (didn't see all of the NC State game and I've been to trainwrecks, so I didn't need to see the Savannah State game). Don't...

    Ga Southern

That's why teams will look heavy at past SHSU video to get ready for the Fritzbone (yeah ... that's one stupid. But I can't think of anything else at 1 am and the new offense doesn't have a catchy name - yet). They won't just review this year's footage. They have resources and access to go back...

    CPJ Press Conference

You know the whole thing about running across the street to get a football at KMart is indeed a myth, right? It's a helluva legend. But ... it didn't really happen. 85, however, happened and I have my framed photo of The Catch in honor.

    CPJ Press Conference

Grube did wonders to address the school's academic reputation and standing - and if anybody thinks he didn't care about athletics, go back to the press conference right after Hatcher was whacked on the Bishop Fieldhouse steps. Grube took that thing over. The Coke deal was a renewal of a deal...
