But, but, but…you fail to appreciate that all those SEC teams were highly ranked before the season. That proves that whoever won the conference was really, really good. Otherwise you totally discredit the value of preseason rankings. Come on, man.

Which begs the question for the hundredth time, why did they mix and match? Because they were trying to split the difference between precedent and not locking out the SEC. They wanted it both ways.

But, you see the problem, don’t you? FSU would absolutely slaughter every other team in the playoffs, no question. Oh, you disagree? Well, that is a matter of opinion and pure speculation. Which is why you can only go by who actually won their games. All else is a bs argument.

No proof other than two data points. 1. The SEC has lobbied hard for the last 50 years that their teams should be considered better than teams of lesser conferences and this lobbying has always paid off handsomely. 2. Money seems to always win out.

A testimony to how far sighted the SEC was. They knew that in the future attracting athletes to their schools would have to depend on more than just conference trophies. Now they can say, “And you’re almost guaranteed a shot at a national championship.”

It seems uncomfortably true that the more rednecks needing self validation you have the larger the fan base buying up swag. Some groups seem especially suited to exploitation.

Me too. They are fun to watch and I’m bone weary of seeing B1G and SEC teams.

Is it just me or does Michigan look slow? The playoffs will, as usual, be about matchups. I actually think a team like Oregon matches up better than some of these teams. Saban is the wild card. I think he is a better game coach than the others.

It’s crazy to me how the committee has set themselves up for so much second guessing whereas they could have just used on the field results and at least had a simpler defense. It really feels like they were more scared of leaving out the SEC than leaving out FSU.
