At least Fla. Tech started two tall inside guys...6-10 and 6-8 with some muscle. Doesn't make them great, just offers some size clogging up the inside. Cole and Gueye played well against it.
Taking into consideration the competition, GT looked better than I expected, but I wasn't expecting a lot. Cole looked good and may a serviceable PF. Nice put-backs. Gueye will still have the foul thing hanging around him, but he had some good moves. There was better ball handling than last...
We have a lot of the parts of a good team, but it won't happen this season. Still, most of this team will return next season so this is a building year. Will be fun to watch them develop with a lot of hiccups along the way.
They just posted up to date heights and weights for the team. Wright is up to 221 lbs, Cole up to 217. But James Banks shrunk from 6-10 to 6-8, but at 243 lbs. Sjolund and Moore shrunk a little, also.
True. That's the way Duke now operates. No more development, but a real quick stepping stone for the team, not just a player or two. I'll take Loyola's story any day.
I see our three ball handlers, Jose, Devoe and Phillips at 1 and 2 most of the time. That leaves Okogie getting a lot of minutes at the 3 and Haywood getting the rest of the minutes, also when we go with four guards and a big. Beyond that it's anyone's guess.
Congrats and a tip of the hat to the whole team and CJP. when Lammers got 2 early I figured this wasn't going to happen, but the other guys played well. Kudos to Alston and especially to Cole (double double and 2 blocks). He can only get better. I would rather play Syracuse with the possibility...
It was nice to see Lammers and Jackson play like the seniors they are. Virginia is a very good team, we have nothing to be ashamed of. They just have a few more weapons than us. We'll get there eventually. Jackson at the point most of the time is a better decision.
