Good article by Bradley CJP has said we are one top flight recruit away from being very good and he's right. The trick is getting that top flight recruit.
It's funny to watch freshmen come into their game. Like a light switch that goes on. Happened to Devoe a while back and now Sjolund. He had something to prove and he did. Hokies are a very good shooting team and have a lot of talent.
I like Haywood, but he's 1-22 for 3's in his last 5 games. I'm glad Alston's back on the court. If anything he does provide some offense and (not saying a lot) is our best 3 pt shooter, although I believe Devoe may end up with that crown.
This season there are about half of the ACC teams that are really good and the rest not bad, but not in the same league. A lot of the teams below us I expected to be much stronger...not necessarily us, though.
Hate to lose any game, but you have to feel good about Tech's game today. Our guards were gassed at the end (both played 40 min each I believe). They gave their all. Devoe is starting to turn into a very good player. I knew early on that our bigs would be in foul trouble. Pastner did a good job...
Tech just lost by a basket to the #9 team in the country. VT is a team that plays excellent defense. My only regret is the final plays...that's what made the difference. We had three shots at the game towards the end and blew them all. But I actually have more confidence in the team going...
We're still not playing as a team, but its getting a little better. Pluses were the play of Cole and Devoe. This would be a real good time for their games to kick in.
Tech isn't so bad with Tenn beating the Zags, St. Johns still undefeated and Northwestern giving Michigan a time last week. Our defense is pretty darn good. Moore could end up being a game changer for us. But please take him to the Varsity and load him up with dogs, rings and fries.
I was distraught when we lost. But after reflection this game did show some things. St. Johns is a pretty good team, lacking a big man. We have a very good big man in Banks on both ends of the court. He is a game changer. Our problem is getting it to him when we need to. We did for a while, but...
Let's hope tonight we start Saturday where we left off Wednesday. Especially Alvarado and Banks. St. Johns is a short team...maybe we can get it into Banks some.
