as i mentioned elsewhere, i admire PJ's ability to adapt. he definitely came up huge in the second half, and contributed to the win on game day. but as a heel fan, i also feel like LF was not exactly outcoached. easy for me to play monday morning QB but with if we made the routine two point...
i guess i was pretty close.
good win to you guys.
the thing i always admired and feared about pj came to haunt UNC... his ability to adjust mid game, mid drive, at any moment.
there were some close calls but in the end, we just didn't make enough plays.
i'm glad it was a close one to the end...
thanks for that. as i said before on another thread, i like to read GT football boards because the discussion is usually more technical, and the fan base seems more intelligent than most. y'all have been very civil yourselves. i've enjoyed the discussions this week, and will be back next week...
i see your point about the lack of defensive stars... except two of the five you mentioned last played in 2010 and another two played in 2011. the guy that we really miss this year is DT sly williams (1st rd to broncos in 2013 draft).
i completely disagree with renner being a poor man's yates...
(i may be setting myself up here but i'll ask anyways)
curious... if anything, what worries you most about the game?
for me, maybe it would be that GT and TR's D has not yet faced a QB of Renner's caliber.
don't you know that once the opposing defenses figure out the secret sauce to beating PJ, GT is done for? ;)
in order to make it easier to consistently bring in the top dual threat recruits, either vad or justin need to get drafted by an nfl team as their QB. other schools are already adopting...
no problem. thanks for the welcome. i like the UNC fan base but you guys seems to carry a much more intelligent/insightful football conversation, x's and o's, etc.
and looks like john has outed me.
despite GT's recent success against UNC, tech has been my 2nd fav ACC team since john got there...
hope i didnt come off as saying that vad was ours if we wanted him. just because he wanted the offer, it doesnt mean we wouldve automatically landed him. obviously, he's made a fine choice and done well for himself so far in atl.
i wish UNC got vad. can't remember exactly how it played out but i think vad (being from durham) wanted the UNC offer. everett golson committed and then spurned us for ND, and then we chased after marquise williams instead of vad who probably would run the fed spread offense very well. and then...
you're right that it was no secret. i was aware of it being on your boards and having GT friends. i'm not sure how much each head coach keeps tabs on what other teams are doing in their open practices. makes sense to do so, of course, but i'm sure there's a cost-benefit analysis there somewhere...
yes, it's burdened the UNC staff because they have more to prep for. obviously, the diamond formation can be run in many ways but it's not entirely foreign to them. as the link below shows, UNC already unveiled its version of the diamond formation against MTSU two weeks ago...
funny how "high school offenses" now give "NFL defenses" so much trouble...
maybe the trick is to keep going down... what does pee wee ball look like? all 11 kids move together as one?
it's safe to say that the fan base is pessimistic about this weekend, too. we're usually an overly confident bunch of fans but the prediction thread (linked) is one example of how the fans on average don't expect a positive outcome.

if you read the coaches' comments (especially vic koenning), it's clear that "we" are fully aware that GT's offense is so much more than just triple option. it was clear last year, too.
agreed. UNC usually has fewer ToP (only had one favorable game last year vs. idaho). we lost our two most unfavorable games (#1 louisville, #2 GT) but won our third and fourth unfavorable. i think you can also look at the number of snaps to determine the quality of time out on field for the D...
