  1. OT depth

Worst case is to move Bryan back to T, not a move to make except in emergency. Best case is Marshall and Lee stay healthy and Stickler steps up or a frosh emerges. (Ivenmeyer could be in the OT backup picture). Devine and the Morgans have our Gs backed up. Marshall staying healthy is very key...
  2. Spring game talk

I agree. I went through the same thinking that we should have pitched more. Sometimes the D had the pitch at least partially covered and sometimes it just seemed the pitch relationship (our fast QBs outrunning the AB) was not right. I am still concerned about the pitch because MJ has had this...
  3. Spring game talk

I can't decide until I see the TO decisions made with the handoffs and pitches. We know the QBs can run. I agree that LJ has the passing advantage. JJ has the big play advantage. MJ has the game experience and short yardage/toughness advantage. TM is a blend but more like JJ. CPJ with the...
  4. Post Spring Practice Depth Chart

Branch and Simmons are far and away our best pass rushers. Adams is the run stuffer and probably plays situational. He has limited mobility whereas Branch, Henderson, and Glanton can pursue.
  5. Spring game talk

My impressions from being at the game and watching the tape: It was really hard to evaluate the QBs. Their general play was exciting and promising, but sloppy. They often had very poor blocking and there were few TO pitch plays to evaluate. Passing looked really promising but the accuracy was...
  6. Spring game talk

7 not on the roster but the announcer called Mark Rew at least twice but 88 and 56 played a lot and were also not on the roster. Anyone know who they are? Also when Bryan went out early a Gold Team member put on a plain white shirt and played RT on the White O. Was that Brad Morgan or? The Gold...
  7. What are looking for, in the coming season?

foresee improvement: pass rush hope for improvement: LB areas to be good: AB and BB (but there is little reason to boubt the back 5 DBs) strongest area: O main concern: OT health and depth
  8. Spring game roll call.

Myself, son-in-law, daughter, and grandson will be there, rain or shine. Best chance to see walk-ons and deep backups as well as likely 2 deep players.
  9. GT Pro day

I have followed the Falcons from 1966 and most of my "measurables" comments are based on years way earlier than 2008. In the earlier years "physical specimens" were often quoted by the Falcons as justification for many of their draft picks. The Falcons draft record is the evidence, especially...
  10. GT Pro day

I do not think the current Falcon's coach has the "measurables" disease but the past history of the really poor Falcon's draft record is full of "measurables" examples, including basketball players, runners who do not pan out, and blockers who can't block and defenders who cannot find the ball...
  11. 2017 Spring Practice

Thanks for posting this. Our walk-ons play an important part in our football program and they deserve more press or credit than they receive. Ike in particular stepped up when we really needed it after all the RB injuries and attrition hit us in 2015.
  12. OT depth

The Spring Game OL situation will be very interesting. We are not as thin for the game in the OL as we were last year, but we are thin with only 9 schlorship players participating for 10 positions plus backups. One walk-on will have to start on the second team and all OL backups for both teams...
  13. OT depth

I agee. I assume you are talking the Morgans, Stickler, and maybe Ivenmeyer. Are there others (OL) in the program that we are not hearing anything about?
  14. OT depth

Lee LT and Marshall RT but Marshall has played both sides.
  15. OT depth

I completely agree with the comments about the starters. At other O and D positions we have known and capable backups. My point is about OT (and maybe C) backups.
  16. OT depth

Our O and D positions are well covered from a depth standpoint except for OT. We were in great shape before Klock and Fromayan departed. ( Center could become an issue without Marshall available as a backup ). Marshall is certainly a capable starter at OT but he has missed some playing time...
  17. GT Pro day

40 yard times are an indication but are unfortunately somewhat like star ratings. Not the best metric. For example Instinct, recognition, vision, burst, acceleration, ability to cut at high speed, ability to move fast laterally with shoulders square, and ability to take the proper angle is far...
  18. Mikell Lands-Davis

And we also have Jarrett. Blessed at AB.
  19. Is This year ours in the ACC?

This season's success comes down to developing OT depth and avoiding a rash of injuries to key playmakers.
