@dressedcheeseside: Certainly Shaq was a stud, but the rest of that O-Line returns intact with several players (Devine, Marshall, and Griffin) who played extensively this past season. There are also several redshirt freshman who will be pushing for early playing time. They along with Justin...
No doubt GT loses some quality players from this 2014 team as well as their leadership, however, this is probably the first team to ever make a Sophomore QB a Team Captain so I'm confident with the passing of the torch that the flame remains intact moving ahead. Perhaps Florida made Tim Tebow a...
Here is what I want to see in the pre-season publications: 1. Phil Steele to pick us last in the Coastal;
2. GT's success last year was only because the Coastal was very weak...
Also let me add that Ed Cunningham who is an ESPN analyst and was an offensive lineman (Center/Guard) for the University of Washington under Don James back in the late 70's was the only person to pick GT to win the Orange Bowl other than Flipper. Don't get me started on Phil Steele who gave MSU...
So an All American Guard comes in as the tied for 99th best player this past season? Makes about as much sense to me as the pre-season Coastal Division preditions. Perhaps he didn't have enough stars coming out of High School. What a Joke!
I bet every D-Lineman and LB from MSU rated him # 1.
Notre Dame will always have the cache every year. However, I'll take an experienced O-Line returning along with Justin Thomas at QB and an opportunistic defense heading into an early season game in South Bend. Hopefully the Irish DC Van Gorder will use the same game plan to defend CPJ as he...
I look at Chan this way: If GT had the BC AD who fired the Eagles Coach who had won a couple of Atlantic Championships after he told him NOT to go interview for the NFL job, as opposed to Braine, then we never would have gotten CPJ. So I don't know if I should thank Chan or Braine for that...
@CHE90: Well put! Also, we had a QB transfer; lost several D-Linemen who had never stepped onto the field in a game; and lost a receiver along with his brother who was just recruited and rated the best of the class. Even after losing all of that:
Apparently football is still a TEAM Game!
What the interior D-Line was able to accomplish with basically "3" DT's most of the season once Gamble was moved to SDE was nothing short of impressive. In fact I can still remember Gamble going off the field on that little chariot only to return and play the following week. The kid is a...
BTW, OSU also gave this "High Powered Oregon Offense" four turnovers to help them score more points. When FSU did that it was a 59 point blowout and they took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter. IIRC the Criminoles gave them five TO's. Apparently the OSU defense is pretty darn good...
What I really enjoyed watching was the RB from Oregon getting gassed and having to go refuel on the sidelines. This hurry up reminds me of the gorgeous girl variety of eye candy that looks great but can't cook or do much else but shop. Going three and out in 48 seconds really puts pressure on...
Time to prepare is just another myth compared to having a solid defense that can stop Any Offense:

The type of offense a team runs doesn't matter so long as they are winning with it. Barry Switzer is also still the only coach to win a National Championship with a true freshman QB. Jamelle Holieway in 1986 came off the bench about five games into the season for an injured Troy Aikman and...
Clemson was # 1 in defense this entire season. They pounded Oklahoma in the Champs Bowl. I'm not going to waste my time checking, but I'm certain Oklahoma has more stars players on offense than we do. In fact, they have the all time single game rushing record holder at RB who didn't do much...
