Bill Callahan - Nebraska
Lovie Smith - Failed miserably at Illinois
Jim Mora - Failed miserably at UCLA
Mike Riley - Failed miserably at Nebraska
Herm Edwards - Arizona State (went 7-5 this year in a year when USC, UCLA, Arizona, were VERY down)
Please God no.... Bringing in a pro guy with no college experience is a bad idea. Plus he was 48-71 as a coach in the NFL.
Reeks of Nebraska and Bill Callahan.
Honestly, if they switch off the option their best bet is to go Air Raid. That would likely provide the quickest path to success on offense.
I would be pissed if they tried to run west-coast or pro style offense at GTECH... Option or Air Raid.
Charlie Strong inherited the best team in USF history, with the best QB to ever play there in his first season. This year they got exposed and will likely finish 7-6.
Strong is too risky for Georgia Tech. No track record of success and you he will blow up the entire roster.
The more I thought about this and digested many ideas from you guys... I really believe Jeff Monken or Chad Lunsford are the best way to go. Each offers a continuation of success and maintains the "option" identity, but in different ways.
Monken (Army)
Monken, no doubt, is a great coach and any...
Someone needs to get this link over to TStans.... 80% of the forum so far wants to keep running the option.
Give the fans what they want, Stansbury! :)
They are just showing formations... not meant to be impressive. I could post an image of Washington States QB standing in the shotgun and that wouldn't be impressive either. I posted it because this is the offense Lunsdsford runs at Georgia Southern and its based on the option, if Stansbury was...
This is a fantastic post... Nebraska played for a national championship in 2001, and in Frank Solich's final season won 10 games, and he was fired. They tried to implement "modern" offenses and it has tanked their program. Frank Solich has gone on to become the best coach in Ohio history, and is...
Chad Lunsford and his coordinator, Bob Debesse, are coaching football 3 hours away from Atlanta. They went 9-3 this year. It fits hand-in-glove with current Georgia Tech talent. We'd be in the shotgun half the time. Lots of unique formations but maintain Triple Option principles. Kirvonte would...
Monken is a great coach, and would be a great hire... I'd rather hire Troy Calhoun from Air Force if you are going that route though. Not sure he would leave Air Force.
Wow, tough day for Georgia Tech... This is a hall of fame coach. Not many programs get to have a hall of famer at at the helm, especially not as long as CPJ was at Tech.
I think you take a serious look at the Georgia Southern staff as a replacement.
