I'm not saying we need to pass more, only that it was refreshing to see teams use the short passing game and that we could do the same. If we are going to throw 12-15 times a game, which seems to be the norm, i would think it would be good to throw it short a few of those times to get JT some...
1. It makes a huge difference running the TO when the quarterback is decisive and attacks the defense. I love JT, but watching Keenan Reynolds is night and day. Reynolds has a lot more reps in the offense and I'm sure that makes a difference. Hopefully JT will be hit during spring. I wonder...
the guys really stepped up last night. I hope some of the guys that went out last night will be ok for next week! If we can get a couple back and beat UVA it would be huge going into a bye week
This 100%. We are undersized without great speed which is a defensive death sentence. Even our undersized edge rushers can't speed rush around an offensive tackle. Think about it: when is the last time you saw a great speed rush around the edge? We just aren't explosive at many places.
I would like to see Roof out of the booth and out the sideline. Didn't he do that last year? The thing most bothersome to me is we play with zero fire or emotion.
This is my biggest concern also. The offense will be better, but I cannot for the life of me get positive vibes on the defense due to the DT and DE play we have coming back. The DEs play hard, but they are light in.the seat but yet lack explosiveness to speed rush. It's a bad combo.
First, let me say that I enjoy the offense that we run. When executed it is an absolute thing of beauty. Having said that, it's always baffled me that we seldom add wrinkles throughout the year. In reality, what have we added the past few years to the playbook?

The ancillary benefits you mentioned are the most important. You basically get another spring practice for the young kids. The more reps they get the better.
In order to make the defense nervous we need to run plays without stepping up and then having JT look to the sideline. It doesn't have to be often but would make the defense really scramble. UNC was running all over the place trying to adjust the first couple series but we never did a quick...
Don't disagree with that at all. I'd have to look at the film and see if we consistently ran outside in that formation. Also, I'd love to see if we threw the ball out of it or if it was 100% run.
Doesn't that make it even worse? Either make him eligible or stop running plays in that formation. Once UNC stopped covering the ineligible slot you have to do one or the other since it was bringing another man into the box. We had to have been in that formation 25 times and were at a...
I loved the no huddle look, but it seemed we would line up and check with the sideline after looking like we would snap the ball fast. It would be nice to mix it up and see us go quickly a few times to mix it up without checking with the sideline. At Clemson barking signals with the guys lined...
