Getting to see Q come out after the Belmont game, his last home game and after he scored his career high, and kiss the GT at mid-court, that was worth more to me than watching the team lose a first round NCAA tourney game I wouldn't have been able to attend.
I have no problem if someone wants to break out the champagne for Pastner and this year, just don't break out the checkbook for a rollover contract ever again, for anyone.
I think that is a good turnout. There was only a day and a half from the announcement to the game. It was at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday, and that was the highest attendance of any NIT game that night. Now that they have more time to sell tickets Sunday will likely have a bigger turnout.
These reminders of the ridiculous nature of Hewitt's contract are depressing me. It is truly amazing that Tech's fourth most recent AD agreed to a contract that the program is still hampered by this long after he left.
Strange to be skeptical of whether CJP paid for the students tickets. If student allotment was a quarter of the tickets, which I doubt, it would add up to 30 grand. I think Memphis, I mean Pastner, can afford that, especially after his achievement bonuses.
I recall a Tech coach, maybe Hewitt, pointing out the sick differential between fouls called in favor of Duke. Freud the rest of the ACC. It would be suggestive to see a long term study of that and foul differentials generally.
If Sexton is one then the bright side would be that given the success this year, CJP will be able to recruit local talent of that caliber. I know a few people here were disappointed he couldn't get any of the early deciding 17 studs, but this would still be a positive sign for the future. The...
I think the kids he was alluding to signed LoI's. Don't those include a loss of year transfer penalty even though the kid isn't enrolled yet? A guy like Sexton isn't going to give up a year of eligibility at this stage since he is unlikely to stay in college more than two years (if that). I...
After catching up with the site I haven't noticed anyone covering what CJP said on his call in show Monday. He frequently says some really interesting things on that show. What I got from this one worth discussing was the following four points:
1) He once again stressed that in recruiting he...
One addendum I believe, under apr it matters if guys leave in good standing. Bball rolls over two semesters, so back in the day one and dones would only care about staying eligible in fall and then stop going to class in spring semester. But now coaches have to plea with those kids to finish...
Situations like this, and Duke last night, is when I remind myself that my rooting for a sports outcome has zero effect on that outcome.
Therefore, I always root for UGA or Duke to lose by fifty and have their starting lineup and head coaches kicked out for intentional and technical fouls so...
I didn't like our chances against NC State. First because their coach was fired but still in charge which I assumed could shame them into finally playing hard for him. Then when I realized it was on one day rest I became even more pessimistic. However, I have more hope for the Jackets against...
