  1. BjS- am I wrong. He has never played .. Can u say player

We need Branch more inside than outside.
  2. To Chop or not to chop... there is no question

I think the defender was trying to pull Marshall's helmet off, not hurt him. He actually tried twice. That of course could cause Marshall to miss a play (penalty for losing your helmet). Defender should have been penalized for climbing on top of Marshall and not immediately getting off.
  3. Special Teams as we end year. BOTH WAYS COVERAGE AND RETURNS

Until we get our kicking or our coverage fixed I cannot understand why we insist on kickoffs to their stud returner. For goodness sake kick it to somebody else, pooch it, or kick it out of bounds. Line drives straight to their stud returner is a plan for disaster right now. I believe on two of...
  4. Where is Everyone's Mindset Right Now?

Completely agree from a 67 grad.
  5. Injury Report

Doubt we burn a RS for OT this late in the season. Ivenmeyer has been next up for a while, 3 years in the system (2 Spring games) and some in game experience. Scott Morgan has also been competing in practice at OT as well as C.
  6. Young QBs

Slippery turf hurts Marshall in the run game as well. He relies on speed, quicks, and cuts, and slippery turf takes away those skills. Bigger, stronger north/south runners do better in the rain.
  7. Paul Finebaum, Nebraska, and AA Resources

Sleet, ice, snow, wind, and freezing weather.
  8. Young QBs

Two things: Nate needs to explode (not plod forward) the first 15 yards and then look for his opening and place to cut. When he gets into the traffic he seems to be seeking a place to not take the big hit and possibly fumble (this is likely a coaching issue with all the turnover emphasis with...
  9. Virginia postgame discussion

I agree that we need to get back to our O roots, distribute the ball. Right now it is Benson, Jeune, and Marshall Marshall Marshall. Part of that is on Marshall and part on the play calling. Also Marshall depends on his quicks and cutting ability and he is not effective on wet turf. (Also...
  10. Virginia postgame discussion

Too many QB plays in the O and play calling is complicit. We have not seen the TO3 in a long time. Time for the team to play O. No excuse for ST play this poor. D just can't do it when it counts. Not looking like a deserving Bowl team.
  11. A-Backs...

I think the slippery field is not kind to Marshall who has really good quicks and cutting ability on a dry field but slippery footing seems to really hurt his running ability. He was not effective in the Miami game either. I was calling for MJ from the second Q forward simply because of the...
  12. GT vs Clemson Media

Another point about the cut is the defender has to take his eyes off the ballcarrier to play the blocker whereas that may not be the case for a drive block. That short time of taking your eyes off the runner can be just enough. A cut attempt, even if not very successful, most often changes the...
  13. Clemson Wide Outs

Hope you are right but our history says we play our scheme and usually do not change it for individual players. I can only remember one recent exception when we changed our coverage (with J Thomas) on the UNC tight end and shut him down in the second half.
  14. Second-half adjustments It is especially not the case last Saturday. The team can simply play bette

Our blitzes between the tackles are almost always not effective. I would rather see (our faster guys who can tackle in space) our blitzes come from the CBs or Ss from the outside in coordination with our DEs.
  15. Second-half adjustments It is especially not the case last Saturday. The team can simply play bette

Don't know whether this was coaching adjustments or just player common sense but from the north endzone I saw an important adjustment. Early in the game our DTs were spread fairly wide and the the inside LBs even wider. Wake was running effectively straight ahead between the 3 gaps. In the...
  16. Wake Forest Postgame Discussion

3 points on Lee: He did some great run blocking on several occasions. He got beat bad on occasions on pass protection He is so quick on the snap count that he beats the center and sometimes gets called for early motion. Overall he means a lot to the success of our O.
  17. GT Injury Report for Wake Game

My first reaction a well but on reflection I think he was referring to Tre Jackson LB.
  18. Starting OL for UM

They are RSSO. Stick did not play much until this year RSJR. Maybe next year?
  19. Starting OL for UM

Now that Hansen has lost his RS the practice competition (Ivenmeyer at T vs Hansen at G) may determine where Bryan plays most, G or T. Of course Brad Morgan may be in the mix at G as well. I guess we are down to 2 Cs, 3.5 Ts, and 4.5 Gs, counting Bryan as .5s, but the real six that will play...
