  1. PJ presser

We were loaded at QB last year according to CPJ. In the rain and in games late in the year when we were behind and needed to pass TQM struggled mightily but he stayed in the game anyway. I am a big CPJ supporter but I have little confidence that he will play backups as I think he should...
  2. WR corps next year

CPJ did what he needed to do with the D so maybe he is ready/willing to do likewise with the QB/passing situation.
  3. PJ presser

Correct but IMO the bigger point is that CPJ has not played backup QBs in situations where he had an obvious opportunity to do so, if he was so inclined which he does not seem to be.
  4. Here Are The ACC Predictions In 2018 According To Athlon

The O should be no worse than 2017, maybe a tick better if the passing improves and distribution to the ABs is better. Wins beyond 7 will depend more on improvements with the D and STs IMO.
  5. OT - Jack DeFoor (@jackdefoor54) Ruled Eligible

Having good OL players 6 through 10 is a good thing on paper and certainly good if you have a bunch of injuries, but our history is to play 5 to 7 OL players only so the extra depth seems to result in players leaving. I hope we have 10 quality OL players but to keep them we need to play them in...
  6. Hurts

The players I want to see get some PT have nothing to do with RS or class balance (such as LJ, Quaide, Camp, Dolphus, Morgan, Morgan, Cole, Campbell, Kerr, JJohnson, Merriweather )
  7. Work related puppy melts....

Had a long talk with a close friend and Dawg alum and rabid fan. He drank the cool-aid and claimed the refs cost the Dawgs the game. I asked him if no scoring in the last 25 minutes had anything to do with it. Like a lot of people he failed to understand that the penalty on the blocked punt was...
  8. Some of you guys are not religious

We did a poor job of playing backups period: QB, BB, WR, OL, and DB. There were good opportunities in situations were the game outcome would not be affected by backups but we failed to use the opportunity. Biggest hurt to the team for not using the backup more was QB.
  9. And we wanted Mal. parrish so bad

It was a perfect throw, not the usual underthrown one where the catch can be contested. It looked like the 2013 Clemson throws against us where we had good coverage (although in this case coverage was not so good) but the throws were so good that there were completions anyway. A better D scheme...
  10. Hurts

Hurts fits the style of play Ala wants to play. UGA took that away and put ALA in a hole. Saban made a courageous call to go with his best chance to throw the ball which was required to come from behind to win. I wish CPJ would go to his best QB for the situation (Marshall is not the best he...
  11. 3-4 one gap defense

The 3-4 Woody plays is an update of the 5-4 made famous by Bud Wilkenson at Oklahoma in the 50's and tweaked by USC in 60's and used by many coaches in the 70's and 80's before the pros made the 4-3 popular. Over the years the OLB's and DB's have adapted to the more spreaded field passing game...
  12. 2018 Off Season Thread

Unfortunately Kagawa is a Sr and is gone but Jalen Johnson with experience will return.
  13. Some things CPJ could change next season

Agree and I would add: If our kickoffs are not significantly better either squibb, pooch, or kick out of bounds. DO NOT KICK IT TO THEIR STUD RETURNER!
  14. Some ugly kicking numbers I just pulled elsewhere.

Lothridge did it at both levels as well I believe. But I would favor a separate place kicker just from the practice and game warm-up aspect. A duel function kicker would affect the routines of the backups and other ST players.
  15. What if CPJ had Bama or Climpsuns players...?

I agree with 19 vs the 15 but part of the problem is CPJ (or Sewak?) has a mind set to only play 7 or 8 as long as we are in the 65 plays or less range, and that mindset does not build depth. For example after 3 years in the system Stickler had no real game experience and was pressed into a...
  16. A question for ex players or serious fans

I once went to a college level baseball coaching clinic where we observed detailed coaching instructions. A question was asked as to why the players were all put through the simple ABC tecnique when we all know our pro hero players do things differently. The answer was interesting. "The pro...
  17. Back up QB

We might have JJ and in 13 months we still have Cottrell , Rew, and Turner. I had rather have another OL or DL.
  18. BjS- am I wrong. He has never played .. Can u say player

Right now I do not see BJS being a better tackler than Lawerence and it would be hard to take a veteran good tackler with big play history off the field for a freshman. BJSs time will come.
  19. Back up QB

We do have three young ABs who are not seeing PT yet, Jarrett, Gantt, and Mason + Two walkons with decent size and skills, Turner and Rew. We are recruiting a couple of good looking ABs in this class so numbers of ABs is not a problem.
