Most things you cannot control up front. One you can. We can chose not to kick the ball off to their good returner. That is one plus for them we can take away.
Rule one should be to NOT kick it to the best return player on the field. Rule 2 should be to pooch kick, squibb kick, or out of bounds kick. With our kickers and return personnel and ST coaches we already know we cannot keep on keeping on! A squibb kick is very very difficult to return as it...
Double team block was part of the play. I believe he said another assignment was missed but it became a mute point since the double team block blew up the D. There was a multi yard push on that block which gathered up other D players and cut off backside pursuit.
Who is the holder? I thought I saw our walk-on QB holding at some point. I think CPJ has mentioned the punter and Stewart but I was one of those who could not make out the numbers from the stadium seats.
I have watched the game 3 1/2 times. Oliver was in a lot of the right places very often and really caught my eye. He really has football savvy. He also made some mistakes and missed tackles. If he continues to improve he will be a great player IMO.
These numbers are thinner, seem less outlined, and blend in with the white in the sunlight. You cannot see them at all from seat distance unless the player is still and squared up to you.
From the north stands you cannot see the numbers past the near 30 yard line at all. The sun reflects off the jersies and the numbers cannnot be seen. I hate them for that reason as I try to keep up with who is in the game...not a chance today.
At the speed of the game and in the heat of chaos the refs are likely to call or not call this penalty a lot. This is a disaster for refs to be consistent. It will likely hurt our O.
Game day is a quality day with my daughter starting about 9:15. We run the I-75S gamble (40 minutes to 2 hours...depending) in our gold attire. Arrive at the parking garage and hit the Varsity for an early lunch hopefully between 10:45 and 11:00. Get to the gate by 11:40ish to watch the...
I too am hoping for the sacks. I will be looking for and hoping for a lot of consistent pressure to cause hurried throws and some some legal hits on the QB. We have not seen much of that in the recent past and that kind of regular pressure would be a real boost to our D (and especially our...
Something to consider: Option football is team play. Air Raid is all on the ability of the QB. Since we do not and probably are not capable of recruiting 5 star QBs, we may be better off playing team ball. Air Raid may not be so entertaining with our level of recruits.
Both the O and the D will provide great excitement. It may translate to only 7 or 8 wins but we will be a force to deal with and there will be many highlights to enjoy.
True if the punishment (missing game time) does not work, but if it does the purpose is accomplished. The running punishment according to CPJ was not working.
What I really like about Woody's D is that it REQUIRES a lot of player rotation and you get the added benefit of better morale, less attrition, stronger D late in the game, more competition among players, and built in depth for future teams. Other benefits I hope are a better pass rush and a...
