D played well enough to win this game. O $hit the bed again. JT is good with better skill players around him. With what he had around him this year he was just a little bit better than a pile of ?.
Our team is not mentally tough this year. Going the wrong way or stupid penalties and missed tackles when it's crunch time. Turnovers again are killing us.
It's very difficult to win with freshmen in HS or college. If Mills has to come in and play I'd expect another season like the one we are going through now.
Historically, BB 's that dance through the hole don't do well. Sure they may hit a big one every once in awhile but to be effective you have to run hard and initially be that "north south" runner the first 5-7 yards. I can't ever remember running a play with ZL and it being 2nd and 11 or 12...
I actually think Allen is our best BB but like you said he can't stay healthy. It's a brutal position to play. I think mosy play with some sort of pain after week 1.
Moving MM at this point with no other players with experience would be foolish IMO. It should be his to lose but obviously he has things he needs to improve. We will know a whole lot more this time next year what this team is made of. PJ can't use the "we're young" theory next year.
Just rewatched the Ugag game....Laskey hit the phucking hole hard every time and always picked up positive yards. He never ran backwards. How many times running the dive with him did we end up 2nd and 11? The blocks he threw in the VT game last year (4th down and the TD) were huge and without...
Laskey led the team in rushing the first year he played BB as a sophomore. This playing behind Sims who was the starter. I guess it depends on the individual. Some pick up all the things associated with playing a position quicker than others.
I get a kick out of people complaining about the offense this year. Where were these complaints last year? Most everyone seemed to love PJ and JT last year and thought the world are now the same people that want PJ fired and Thomas benched. These same people were saying in the midst of last...
Any offense works when executed properly including the TO. (see last year) There's nothing wrong with our offense. Everything wrong with our execution.
Big difference a year makes....I feel better now and can sleep. We used to be big and physical. Sometimes you never know what you had until they graduate. (:
I still get a kick out of people thinking that we were close to beating ND. They had totally dominated us in every aspect of the game. We scored 2 late TD's against their walk-ons. The D has kept us in games late, but this offense is just a little bit better than terrible this year. Good teams...
He has been critical of them all really not just the OL. No excuse for not knowing who to block but any hesitation or a half step the wrong way by our skill players and BOOM....the play is dead.
I honestly think the OL problems are possibly a result of the poor play from the skill positions that include the QB, BB, AB and WR. Running to the wrong gaps and misreads will tend to make them look worse than they actually are.
