    CPJ extension

My apologies to the forum. I put out a post yesterday talking about how we shouldn't be personally attacking each other, then I let myself get sucked in to doing just that.

    CPJ extension

LOL. Well don't read them then. Just because I don't happen to agree with your silly idea of giving a guy a contract extension after we just lost to a team that hadn't been us in 10 years, you don't have to get your panties in a wad.

    CPJ extension

Yes, I agree that my analogy isn't a spot on example. But I think we both can agree that the difficulties of coaching at Georgia Tech aren't going to change anytime in the next few years. We can wish for, ask for, and/or hope for additional majors or paths through the school that don't require...

GT - Duke Post game thread

Miami already has 2 ACC losses though. And we still have to play Clemson as well.

    CPJ extension

First of all: you don't grant an extension based on the first 5 games of the year. If you recall, we were 6-0 at the beginning of 2011 only to finish 8-5. Second: Any extension, if there is one, should be with non-guaranteed years, as Globalbee said. Quite a few other schools don't guarantee...

GT - Duke Post game thread

Several thoughts: 1) One of the great things about this board for the longest time was the ability for people to post their thoughts, both positive and negative, without other people posting personal attacks like happens on the other boards. That appears to have gone by the wayside. John has...

    Tim Byerly...

Best play of the day IMO was when Byerly half-body-slammed the guy with one arm as he was being tackled. :hilarious:

*blows whistle* False Start. You two posted in the post game thread before the game ended. :D

    ACC By the Numbers

I expect this weekend to be the biggest test for our defense to date. I don't know if Duke's defense can stop our offense, but Duke's offense has been effective passing the ball when the QB has time. Miami was able to beat them by getting pressure with their front four. I'm not sure our guys...

    Crowd Noise vs Miami

Haven't had a chance to watch the game yet. My baseball team was playing Saturday night (facing a big lefty who's going to Georgia). One of my players wasn't with us because he was at the Tech game for an official visit for baseball. It was his first time on campus at Tech and he came away...

Interesting GT Critique in Calvin Johnson Article

Maybe true. But if you watch Hard Knocks, those pro coaches spend an awful lot of time with those guys working on just those little subtle details. So I would think you'd still want to work on that at the college level as well.

Interesting GT Critique in Calvin Johnson Article

Excellent post. I will add though that there are "mechanical" things about route running that need to be taught in college. Things like not rounding off routes and proper technique for dropping the hip to make a cut without telegraphing the cut. I'm not a receivers coach so I wouldn't know...

Interesting GT Critique in Calvin Johnson Article

Perhaps the quote wasn't entirely incorrect. To be honest, I would imagine there are probably less than 10 offenses in college football that really and truly prepare a college WR to be a truly proficient route runner in the NFL. That # was pulled out of thin air because I don't feel like...

    Charles Perkins update

Well, to be fair, 3 of the 4 games we have played to date were the weakest teams on our schedule, so I would expect Laskey to be ahead of Allen's senior year pace.

Film Study - Offense vs VT

@Boomergump great writeup! Even though I've often admitted that I'm not a big fan of the TO offense, there's no doubt that it can be effective when you have a skilled QB running it. And make no mistake...Justin Thomas has the makings to be a very special QB for us. As a baseball coach, we are...

    Bowl Streak Naysayers

I don't know how anyone could have looked at our schedule and thought this team couldn't get to 6 wins with the schedule we have this year. Love how the young men are playing right now and I hope it continues. But I also have to say I've watched Virginia in portions of 2 games now and they're...

"Block below the waist" on the Thomas Run

Those were my thoughts as well but you stated it better than I did. Regardless, it was nice to see the play break for a long gain like that. No doubt it affected Bud Foster's psyche and I think it forced him to alter his defense to try and stop the runs outside a bit more.

"Block below the waist" on the Thomas Run

Specifically, the on-air ref said that a block below the waist has to occur between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock on the defender. Whether it was Hill's intention to perform a cut block or not, it sure appeared to me that he blocked below the waist and it definitely wasn't between 10 & 2 on the...

    #14 in the country

Don't get me wrong. I think JT is going to be a special QB for Tech. He already shows flashes of having "it". But since we've only played the 3 worst teams on our schedule, I don't think we yet know how good he's going to be. And I'd be really surprised if he ends this next 5 game stretch...
