Two points:
1) Not disputing the success that Paul had at Southern, but that program was built by Erk Russell and Paul continued it. After he left, the program absolutely took a hit in success when Sewak took over as head coach, so I'm not sure this argument is very valid.
2) I'm fairly...
Pitt is better team than UNC and so is UVA. We all know that Clemson and UGA are tough. Which means that every game for the rest of the season is a struggle.
You simply cannot lose as many players as we did this past summer on defense without it hurting you. We're seeing that now.
I've heard others say that, but I'm calling BS on that one. I don't know that Paul has ever quit anything. And I also don't think he walks away from millions of dollars.
I'm hearing the opposite. Don't think he's going to waste his redshirt.
Edited: should have read the rest of the thread. Apparently, it's on AJC and a couple of other places now, too.
Well, to be clear. I'm not a CPJ Hater. I've had drinks with him a few times. As a person, he's funny and quite a good guy to be around. And I have always acknowledged that I think he's one heck of a football coach. I just find our offense really boring to watch.
Be glad to. Now...you give me the list of all the people who will be available at the time our coach is fired...and I'll gladly pick from that list. But:
1. I don't know who would be available at that point. (Hint. And neither do you...nor our AD....because that list changes weekly.)
2. I...
Not trying to be argumentative, but to what avail? It matters absolutely ZERO what list I would come up with. I know some people in the athletic department but MBob isn't on my speed dial. I'm 100% certain he isn't going to call and ask my opinion. So any great ideas I might come up with for...
Yeah, Dwyer has told several people (me included) that he wouldn't have come to Tech to play in this offense.
FWIW, I think much of the negative recruiting of the running back could be fixed by simply lining the RB up 1 yard deeper and letting him stand up. Dwyer's words were STTE of...
Fair point. But couldn't you also spin that around the other way?
If you're given a very lucrative, incentive-based contract that could actually pay you more money annually than a contract with guaranteed money, why wouldn't you want to take it? If you're a coach who is confident in his...
Me too. When that second guy hit him as he was going down, it bounced his head off the ground pretty hard. I thought maybe he left the game due to a concussion. Very glad to hear that wasn't the case.
I don't disagree with much of what you said. But the original point of this thread was about a CPJ extension of his contract. It is the contention of myself and many others that, IF the contract is extended (whether it's done now or at the end of the season), then just make sure you don't put...
It seems you're the one with the disconnect.
There was a fairly short list.
It was compiled AFTER they fired Gailey. Not BEFORE, as you're suggesting should have been the case.
So you honestly think that we fired Chan Gailey because we knew we could get Paul Johnson? LOL, well I had a friend who sat on that selection committee and I can assure you....he did not come in as the front runner. Gailey was fired...we formally interviewed I believe it was 5 people...and...
