Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Yeah, I can read Richard, in spite of going to Tech. If you believe Uga has upped their true commitment to academics since Kirby came on, I have some Ukrainian beach front property to sell ya near Mariupol.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Even as recent as CPJ's last few years, the AJC did a column on how low Uga's football rates were and how high ours were---plus how low in the SEC Uga was. There were also comments on the boards about why would parents continuously send their kids to play for Uga with such low grad rates...

4% sounds high, by a lot.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Yeah, but major diff between blue collar workers living pay check to pay check vs athletes who make mega bucks. One group has more of an excuse than the other. Most athletes have resources available for advice that the blue collar folks would die for. Of course, many individuals from both groups...

I would imagine Brady's and Manning's "coach", is listed as a HOF QB coach. I agree though, he was underwhelming at uga with top flight material to work with. As for Long, I wouldn't think he would bring on somebody who couldn't help him. Long probably has HC aspirations.

Good post 137. I'm not convinced yet though, that those at the top are fully on board. Top is above TS. All you have to do, is ask yourself where the President of uga would be today with three consecutive 3 win seasons, other than spending time on Indeed. Doesn't mean it's right, but in this...

3-9 three consecutive years IS something new, not to mention how we look doing it.

    We need to jump ship

Interesting cut-off in ref to our sec years because 5 of the previous 6 years to the last 7, we were ranked. However, I don't think most .500 sec record teams today are ranked. Dodd saw what was coming in the form of the talented Black athlete, and knew full well they would for quite some time...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Ha, that may be true, but if the golden goose dies, they do too. Once espn's ratings go down on yet another Bama type team vs a OSU type team, the 10-15 teams that can win it all are in trouble.

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

If "big boys" are the majors (10-15 realistic national champs), then we already had: conf championships, tv, playoffs, and money galore (majors that is), long before NIL/TP. The things you listed came from major networks, activists, and greed. NIL/TP imo = Tsunamis, which have a habit of sinking...

Now ask the other 5 or 6 teams other than Vandy. You are right about the non-revenue sports as I indicated in my post.

    We need to jump ship

How much has being in the sec helped the bottom half of the conference ? Even with the payouts they still don't win the conference. Maybe it helps fund the non-revenue sports at these schools, but if being in the best neighborhood hasn't helped them win, why will it help us ? I know, we can fill...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

I don't know how old you are ramblinman (great font!), but I'm downright ancient, and so far I haven't seen one change to cFB that harmed the major programs and helped the mediocre programs. I'm not so sure that even a better W-L record will keep majors from poaching our players that show they...

Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Agree completely with the historical rollercoaster point, but completely disagree that we are similar to Auburn. The cultures are vastly different. The coincidences of Bama, difficult rivals, and relative resources in their conference, in no way makes them similar. Their resource standing in the...
