iowa's defense is abysmal. mostly (but not entirely) bc garza really struggles vs PNR. having watched about a dozen of their games this year, it's fascinating bc they are so so good on offense and so so bad on defense. it's a race to see who can score the most game after game.

i think howard has a lower ceiling than others, but i still think he could be a very solid respectable back up big man in the ACC the next 2 years. of course, reveno has proven that he can raise the perceived ceiling of alot of guys, so maybe i'm an idiot for putting a ceiling on what he can do...

i agree that the lack of early and mid-season PT for howard/saba hurt some tonight. i think even with more PT howard/saba during this season, both would still be a full off-season away from giving us what we needed today. impossible to know, but that's where i see them on their development...

i thought howard showed solid growth this year. some fans got too exuberant about his solid game vs miami. he played almost all of that game in the paint (defensively) and did not need to move around the floor much. as i've said elsewhere, he also got a ton of help via post doubles that game...

no doubt. clearly. my point was it was more than just his own production. LC was able to adjust their defense at all 5 spots bc moses was out. and that was just enough to neutralize our speed advantage on the perimeter.

defensively, they do a great job of making you make plays. they dont make many plays themselves (steals, deflections, blocks, etc), but they force you to make plays without giving you easy stuff (breakdowns, fouls, etc). they might not be athletic enough to force you into mistakes, but they are...
