  1. Conference Realignment

You have to assume the ACC is doing something behind closed doors. None of the members or the conference has made any statements at all.
  2. Conference Realignment

Utah, Arizona, Arizona St, and Colorado are meeting with the Big 12 tomorrow. If they bolt, then it will be interesting to see what the remaining schools in the Pac 12 do. If the Big 10 isn't ready to take Washington, Oregon, and Stanford then im not sure what their choices are. Can't really run...
  3. Conference Realignment

Not to mention the major basketball programs that would be thrown away. Sorry Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, Baylor, the entire Big East, etc. It would barely resemble a real basketball tournament.
  4. Conference Realignment

There is one way out that I can see. ESPN finds a suitable landing spot for most of the conference and they vote to dissolve. That seems unlikely for the time being. Seems like the more likely outcome is that the ACC will expand and become the third power conference, well behind the front two...
  5. Conference Realignment

Probably the best move for the Big 10. ND is obviously the biggest prize. Have to let them turn you down before moving forward.
  6. Conference Realignment

I'm not sure I agree. That still feels like long term thinking we havent gotten to yet. The Big 10 is negotiating a 1 billion dollar plus a year package right now, primarily with Fox. I don't think that streaming is a major player in that deal.
  7. Conference Realignment

In your expert legal opinion, why aren’t USC or UCLA joining the Big 10 this year or next year? Why aren’t Texas or Oklahoma joining the SEC this year or next year?
  8. Conference Realignment

Ok. In that case, hey Oregon, Washington, and Stanford. Yall want to be in the PACCC?
  9. Conference Realignment

They would basically have to give a huge payout to the ACC members who aren't on board. It could happen.
  10. Conference Realignment

It's hard for me to get to the point of thinking about which ACC teams might leave without figuring out how they could leave. No one is going to pay a 52 million dollar buyout and give up their TV rights until 2036. The league would basically have to dissolve or ESPN and the ACC (and all of its...
  11. Conference Realignment

The ACC signing such a long TV contract is going to screw over alot of teams. I would imagine that Washington and Oregon are going to be Big 10 bound at some point as well. The rest of the Pac 12 and the Big 12 will merge into some kind of conference. Not sure what happens to the ACC. Full on...
  12. Conference Realignment

Fairly surprised by this. USC and UCLA are going to throw away all of their other west coast rivals in all sports and agree to play 9am games in the snow against teams they have no history with? That is really worth some extra money?
  13. Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Eh. There is a political board for this kind of discussion. https://gtswarm.com/threads/political-topics-at-georgia-tech-swarm.21389/
  14. Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

It's a good read, I just don't see how any of the proposals will improve anything. Getting rid of the NCAA, and getting everyone to agree on an all powerful Czar who will do much of what the NCAA was doing (after rebuilding from scratch) and handle financial matter with the CFP seems like a...
  15. new schedule format

Im not saying the overall move to a 3-3-5 is a bad thing. It will obviously be great to play everyone more often. I'm just saying our opinion of who our permanent rivals should be probably was given less consideration than the janitor cleaning up during the meeting. If Clemson didn't want to...
  16. new schedule format

My only real problem with the overall scheduling is that it obviously made sense for us to continue playing Duke every year as we have for 90 years. Either Duke doesn't really want to continue that or the ACC really didn't give a crap what our team wanted. Either one isn't good. One other note...
  17. new schedule format

The problem is that there is no incentive for most of the ACC schools to negotiate. What can ESPN offer them to compensate for destruction of the league and relegation of their programs below P5 status? There is a reason that Texas and OU can't get out of the Big 12 right now.
  18. new schedule format

Im not sure I would rely on this being true going forward. Louisville will have more NIL money than we do. They already have 3 top 100 players committed for 2023 and another in the top 200.
  19. CFP Odds and Format

Not gonna lie. A larger playoff in the new era of free agency and no spending caps feels pointless.
  20. Can we stay competitive in the NIL era?

Miami apparently paid 9.5 million for a 2023 QB. The highest reported so far. https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/06/27/pittsburg-qb-rashada-commits-to-miami-reportedly-lands-massive-nil-deal/. If they are going to be this big of a player in the new money game then winning the Coastal is going to...
