I posted this in the chat but I'll post it in here: if Stansbury can't raise the funds to fire Collins/hire a new staff, then he isn't cut out to be the AD. Hiring the football coach and fundraising are two of the most important aspects of his job and if he can't do either of those he should not...
I actually don't think Key is a bad coach. He is incredibly overrated as a recruiter though, and we could use that salary to entice a better OC/DC. We should have let him go to USC this off-season. The price we pay for him, we need way more progress or way more 4* recruits from him.
Everybody has covered the train wreck that our defense is, but I'll also point out how disappointed I am with the fact the OL hasn't seemed to progress very much this year and our TEs are still missing in action in year 3.
We will see how he responds after the season/signing day by who he fires and hires. If he keeps his staff as is, I don't know how anyone can keep defending him.
As much as I would like a quality replacement, any replacement would have me more excited for the next couple of seasons. I can at least lie to myself that we're building something and we need more time etc etc. It's too hard to watch the jackets play knowing I have another season of this next...
For the people tied in more with the behind the scenes: are we actually too broke to fire Pastner? I'm not being dramatic or trying to pile on, but if there's hope for a coaching change I think I can still find enjoyment in watching some of these guys decelop through the season as players. If...
I think it depends on where they see some of these guys' futures. TK is a perfect size for the 3-tech right now, but he needs to get bigger if they see him as a 0.
FSU is at a low point it hasn't been at since before the 80s. Miami has been on a downward trend since the early 2000s. Those schools need to really pull the fans and recruits from the big fish in the SEC.
You have to also look at who actually stays too. Mullen basically came out and said he took non-qualifiers last class at Florida to artificially boost the profile of the class. He knew they wouldn't get in but it made other recruits and people talk about the class because it doesn't effect...
Are you planning on doing any defensive breakdowns this season like you have before ibeeballin? I really enjoyed those from both a fan and general football perspective and wanted you to know that.
I think we need to slow down the tempo a bit and huddle. You can run the same playbook, but give the OL and QB time to process what the defense is showing you. My opinion, I'm not an OC and never played past HS, but we look confused and out of rhythm and easily rattled out there.
I've had the same criticism of this team for the past couple of years and it seems to be continuing now: we can't stop shooting ourselves in the foot. Win or lose, I just want us to play smart, clean ball. The personal fouls last game and the fumbles in this one are all mental and should not be...
I hope we move away from the option plays as our roster turns over. I don't like running them from the gun and it isn't really an NFL style offense to run them as much as it seemed we did at Clemson.
