  1. Vegas line for Ole Miss game

A loss to UCF would make Collins 1-4 against G5 opponents which is completely unacceptable in year 4. Ole Miss went to the Sugar Bowl last year and might do it again. I can take that loss better.
  2. Vegas line for Ole Miss game

Ole Miss lost their DC and OC in the off season, but I’m not touching this line. I have a bad feeling we get drubbed and lose by 20+ based on what I saw from them last year but too many unknowns right now. Not making too much out of this game if we get destroyed at home, UCF is the real...
  3. Georgia Tech donors see positives, but it’s time to ‘put up or shut up’

This is also probably a pretty good year to be on the coaching carousel. The article makes it seem like boosters are invested in the program so if we move on we might land a homerun.
  4. Deion/ GT having discussion?

Would not want prime here. Jackson State has had success by out-talenting nearly every other team they face which is the exact opposite of what GT will ever be doing. He’s also struggled against teams that he has 10x more talent than. He wasn’t exactly winning by blowouts against some BAD teams...
  5. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

You can talk to other coaches before you enter the portal as long as 1) you contact them first, they can’t reach out to you 2) you don’t specifically talk about transferring. Lots of these guys have relationships with other coaches from highschool and camps, or they just reach out to connect...
  6. Have we filled all of our coaching vacancies yet?

I like the offensive staff makeover (minus Choice leaving). I am still very hesitant on the defensive side.
  7. Bowl Season

The second string QB is also out, that's the third string QB playing now.
  8. Rate: Strength Coach Lew Caralla

We seem to be doing better with injuries under him. Northern Illinois was a pretty big eye opener this year where our softness really showed. That's either physical or mental softness, or both. It is definitely concerning.
  9. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Keeping Thacker is a pretty huge red flag. The defense is historically bad right now, the LBs have not looked good the last 3 years, and he isn't exactly a great recruiter. I'll believe the TE thing when I see it, they've been radio silent for the past three years. I won't hate on the rest of...
  10. Griffin is NOT now in the portal

You have to take a RB every cycle, just like you have to with a QB these days. We screwed up not grabbing one last year.
  11. GT hires Chip Long as new OC/QBs Coach

My only reservation is the same as my major criticism of Coach P: can he develop the QBs. I was really hoping for a bigger jump between last year and this year for both Sims and Yates, especially considering the number of starts Sims had. Tommy Rees (current ND OC) was the QB coach while Long...
  12. Harrison Bailey

Regardless of how good he is, our QB depth right now is Sims, a 3-star R-Fr in Perry, a Temple transfer who played in five games over 3 years, and whoever we bring in for this class from highschool. We need a P5 transfer QB bad as a hedge against a Sims injury/benching.
  13. Transfer Portal: Who's Coming and Going (2022 Roster)

If Sims goes too (no idea if he will or not) there's a good chance our QB1 and RB1 are Yates and Smith/Mason, who were all CPJ recruits. That's a bad look for Collins in year 4 given some of the stuff he said or implied about the talent on the roster when he got here.
  14. Staff Changes

Not sure why Wiesenhan or Marco Coleman survived. Marco is probably still living off the 2019 class, he's dropped off a ton since then at a recruiter and we're #98 in sacks. TEs are basically non-existent at this point and Weisenhan hasn't really been anything special on the recruiting trail.
  15. Our problem is the most part is we need ball players!!!

    We lost to Northern Illinois.
  16. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Chan was here for 6 years. Paul (who was not fired) was here for a decade. Ted had three one year gigs after getting fired and is currently an analyst at Clemson, nobody wants him as a DC anymore.
  17. Stansbury

Something I (selfishly) didn't realize is that there are kids who are at Tech who are living with 3-9 for the last three years. There's going to be a big drop off in fans from these graduating classes for a team that already struggles to attract fans. Many years down the road that's going to hit...
  18. Most likely outcome.....

Best case scenario: we wear them down a little to give Bama a better chance of beating them and they get a worse seed and making their path to the championship a little harder. As pathetic as it is, I don't think we're even going to be a speed bump for them and even that outcome is unrealistic...
  19. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

I don't think he'd survive here. He quit at Florida because it wasn't easy going for him anymore. He probably would have survived the OSU scandal if he hadn't lost two games each of the previous two years and lost to Purdue his last year. The fact there's rampant speculation he will quit the...
  20. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

If we have the money to fire him, can TStan get those same boosters to ante up $1million for at least a brand name OC and DC? Or use our ACC TV money for that?
