    Apples and Oranges

it’s posts like these that make OP’s point. You point out the fact that CPJ was down to a 3rd string QB, without mentioning Dwyer, Baybay, Gardner, Richard, Walker, Burnett, Jones, etc. but you refuse to acknowledge the fact that the current staff is down to a makeshift OL and as thin a DL group...

    Apples and Oranges

3 experienced QBs? You’ve got to be kidding. By the way, Calvin Booker was a senior who played in 5 games the year before. Booker played admirably in the GW game but the problem wasn’t experience as much as it was his skill set didn’t fit the system. I never judged CPJ based off that...

    Apples and Oranges

Great post. I was at the Gardner Webb game. Dwyer bailed us out with an 80-yard catch and run! Game was indicative of how hard it is to be good without a QB that fits a system... we were so fortunate that JfN was on our roster. 1.7 yards per rush in that game. Imagine our W/L column in 2008...

Has Georgia Tech Football entered the Bill Lewis Era part II?

The point is to acknowledge the offensive improvement and at least semblance of an identity.

A Message our Players (Reposted from the other site.)

Realistic expectations must be adjusted when you get to the point where inexperienced walk ons are starting on an already-depleted OL

Has Georgia Tech Football entered the Bill Lewis Era part II?

We absolutely would beat Citadel and USF by 2-3 TDs if we played them today. Granted, those are bad teams, but we have improved.

I agree to an extent, but what coach wouldn't have been "way over his head" with our OL and DL + Injuries?

Has Georgia Tech Football entered the Bill Lewis Era part II?

We are halfway through the year. I cannot believe (but maybe shouldn't be surprised) that our fans won't give this guy ONE HALF OF A SEASON, much less a full season, to figure this thing out before calling this man Bill Lewis Part II. I never expected our fans to show the level of delusion that...

Has Georgia Tech Football entered the Bill Lewis Era part II?

Lol “getting what he deserves” ... we get that you don’t like CGC. I understand concerns and questions, but i don’t understand how a Tech Fan could have it out for the guy the way you do at this point in his tenure.

    Disappointment

if we go 9-4 in 3 years CGC will have been a success. Whether he goes .500 overall over 4 years won’t mean anything at that point.

Willie Fritz and the spread option

I have followed his career since his days at Southern. Always thought he’d be a logical choice for us once CPJ left.

Has fan apathy already set in?

I carved out the Citadel and will not defend that game. Look at our OL and DL situation. Temple and UNC have more talent at both position groups at this point.

    5 Games in: Observations

Good point. For a pro-style or spread offense, our avg recruiting class over the last 5 is a lot worse than 49. My hope is to see more Dwyers, Burnetts, Morgans, D. Thomases, Anthony Allens, Vance Walkers—the caliber of players that we frankly have not seen since those guys graced GT campus. I...

    5 Games in: Observations

Chan’s Xs and Os were trash, but at least he left us some Jimmies and Joes to work with. Even if CGC doesn’t turn out to be a good coach, I hope the guy we hire next is left with talent to work with. Not a shot at CPJ, just my opinion.

    5 Games in: Observations

You're right. We will not out-recruit UGA, Clemson, Bama. We can recruit well enough--especially considering our prime geographic location--to be in the top 2 One thing we “can’t do” is beat Clemson, Kirby’s UGA, and the Bamas of the world doing what we did for the last 11 years. We got...

Has fan apathy already set in?

They did not play well--especially on 3rd downs. Our lack of pass rush (again, especially on 3rd downs) and lack of depth killed us. Our inability to maintain drives made things even worse.

Has fan apathy already set in?

Back in August, I hoped for 5-6 wins this season. I insisted that we'd win no less than 4. However, outside of the Citadel meltdown (unacceptable regardless of circumstances), I am not terribly shocked or disappointed at what we are seeing, especially considering the OL attrition. I am shocked...

    North Carolina Postgame

Pleased with Graham overall. Missed opportunities in the first half cost us. Defense got worn down. Feel better than I did a week ago. We will be ok.

    Reasons to be optimistic!

I agree. He'll struggle at times. Even with the OL fighting their tail off, they will have their hands full. It is difficult to play a clean game at QB without (a) experience and (b) an experienced OL. I just hope some explosive plays (in our favor) come early and somewhat often.

    Reasons to be optimistic!

Boy that would be nice. Would love to see Mason and Griffin get lose this Saturday. Graham can at least stretch the field with Ahmarean Brown and Malachi, among others.
