This is such BS, and you're just hedging your bets in case we go 6-6, 7-5 and people start wishing we had hired Monken or another option guy.
You're trying to convince us that CPJ teaching a bunch of pro-style offense recruits to run the flexbone was easier than lining up our current kids in...
What Fritz did with the run game at GSU in 2014 (a roster recruited for the flexbone under center).

This is my dream. (Disclaimer: the whole article is about the run game. You can obviously do some really...
If GC is the hire, I like it. My hopes were always either a Monken/Bohannon hire or someone young and energetic like GC seems to be. The option isn't the only way to win at GT (but it sure helped).
But can we PLEASE not piss all over the last decade in every post about the new hire?!?!
Yeah! And just think how hard it will be for teams to prepare for that, too! They’ll have to spend extra weeks throwing to their own TEs on seam routes that are in their current playbook! Wait...
In 2014, we were notably better than 2018 at QB and WR only.
In 2019, if we ran the flexbone, we'd have:
QB: TO/JG/LJ/JY (you have to believe in one of these guys... they each have elite skills. Just have to settle on one and see if they pan out)
BB: KB, JH, JM
AB: NC
AB: OJ, XG, JM(?)
WR...
What is so hard to understand about liking:
9-4, 11-3, 6-7, 8-5, 7-7, 7-6, 11-3, 3-9, 9-4, 5-6, 8(hopefully)-5
more than
7-6, 7-6, 7-5, 7-5, 9-5, 7-6, and NOT running the option?
I will never understand it.
Lots of good stuff in this from Monken in the FCS title game vs. NDSU. Tweaks. Shotgun spread stuff.
Hey, if we hire Monken, will you still piss all over every pro-option post?
Will it be as good of a feeling as you had after the Orange Bowl? Or any of the wins over UGAg? (I think it...
On the topic of Monken...
19:48 mark of this video:
I'm in the camp that thinks we can be successful with either a CPJ disciple or a new direction, but I watched Monken do this at GSU, and it was fun to see some tweaks.
I've been pretty non-confrontational about most of the CPJ-bashing in the wake of his retirement. Mostly, it's just a waste of my time to argue points that have been argued here ad naseum for years. Some are glad CPJ is gone, and I respect that. I also respect some criticism of recruiting...
I've already stated my case for Monken, Elliott, etc. I wouldn't be a fan of a KW hire for several reasons.
However, is the gnashing of teeth in this thread really necessary yet? Where is the confirmation KW is the leader, other than internet rumors? Did I miss a TStan quote?
I hope that wouldn't end up being a job that Elliott would end up considering more appealing than GT, simply due to the lack of recruiting restrictions.
Cool. The narrative will be sympathetic to GT, assuming we have a totally new approach. They'll talk about GT's big wins against Clemson under CPJ, potentially a juicy storyline if Elliott does get the job, and an early loss to a potential defending national champion won't hurt at all if we...
I've used what Fritz did with Monken's roster at GSU before, but it's actually not that difficult.
Now, it would extremely difficult to transition to a pro-style offense. But I consider all the Clemson spread stuff pretty orthodox, now, honestly.
My current state of mind:
Choice 1A: Jeff Monken
I've already stated this case earlier in the thread as the best case scenario if we stay with the current model. It won't excite some, and it may end up with similar results to the CPJ tenure (which I am personally more ok with than some, here...
There are a few posters here who need to try and understand that the desire to continue running the option doesn’t mean some of us think we CAN’T win without it. It’s simply that we think it gives GT the best chance to compete at the highest level. And if you disagree, that’s fine. But there...
