thanks cpj and the rest of you who make this happen`

Most of the time we can weed through the kids that won’t make it (either through getting the kid to make the entrance scores or scaring them off/lack of interest b/c of workload, school profile, etc), but occasionally we get hit by this. One such example was Junior Gnonkonde... wanted him, but...

    Clemson Postgame Discussion

I'm torn. Was there in person, skimmed through it when editing it. It wasn't a horrible game to watch in person if you could stay dry /humblebrag. We got eaten alive on offense against a serious talent deficiency. I'd give high marks to the D on how they played with what they were given...

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

Could be. Too many variables for sure. Hopefully we'll have dry fields for VT and georgia... Or maybe not if we get that whole "running the option on a wet field" thing figured out.

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

Could have. We also made them start really far down the field if we had to punt, which probably helped some as well.

Sooth: I remember Welsh from when he was at Navy. Heck of a guy and a great coach, and I agree, we need to "know our place" and appreciate what we do with our limitations. Great writeup overall. I did design work on Scott Stadium when they added the upper deck all around and the white...

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

The thing I find crazy about that is that we don't put many linemen in the league, but when we do, they start and win the SuperBowl...

Tap the brakes on the hyperbole. That may be the case eventually, but if you took Alabama, Clemson, UGA, whoever and lined them up against the worst team in the NFL, the college team would get CRUSHED. They are grown men in the NFL that do football 24-7-365, and these are still kids...

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

There is something interesting about offense style. I've read elsewhere that NFL coaches are having issues with O Linemen coming in from spread teams and not knowing how to play. They are so used to quick schemes that they can't pass block. It's not a conference thing either. It's common...

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

We are fortunate to have him. I'm hearing rumors that changes are coming to level the playing field.

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

As an add on to this, I think our defense played REALLY WELL in the loss. Most teams that Clemson plays end up getting ground down and giving up a bunch of points late. We gave up: TD on blown/bad coverage after a fumble 2 TDs on long drives (I'd expect this against any decent team) 1 FG on a...

    Kirby Syndrome or Syracuse Envy?

I guess I'm not a disappointed in the loss as some are. I haven't torn my clothes and committed hari-kari. My thoughts going in were that we needed to execute perfectly (we didn't), establish the middle run game (we didn't until late in the game, and then that QB got injured again), and have...

    GT vs Clemson Media

Not 100% is fine as long as it isn't a concussion. Playing a kid with a concussion nowadays is tantamount to signing your resignation papers as a coach. I don't think Dabo would be that dumb, but he has done stranger and riskier things before.

Mid season questions answered... where to from here

This may be more a symptom of the Dive and Follow having being so successful. We are pile driving down the field with those two plays in 5-8 yard chunks, there may not be much need to go to the pitch play. We likely will against Clemson though, just for variety sake.

    GT vs Clemson (-15.5)

Maybe not the dumbest thing ever... John Smoltz went on the DL his rookie season for ironing a shirt without taking it off Agreed on your general point though. I have always thought that if one of the first couple guys trips when they get going, they could lose 1/2 of the team to some fluke...
