We lost because the defense couldn’t get stops on 3rd/4th down. Syracuse got first downs effectively on 70% of of their 3rd/4th down opportunities. That is disastrous for a defense and a team.

Ask the GT AD. GT got great exposure from the Ireland game. With the recent state of GT football that was probably very important. We can gripe about it but it was a GT Home Conference game. The ND game in the Dome is also a GT home game.

There is zero chance preseason rankings go away. They bring interest, attention, and money to College Football. Gambling is huge for College football now and rankings matter to many gamblers as well as the many 24/7 Sports talking heads. There is no purity in going about ranking teams...

Tennessee was a Top 10 team, NCST was a Top 25 team. Cal and Auburn were both unranked. From a perception perspective the Tenn win over NCST is Much bigger. Casual fans will see Tenn destroyed NCST. Very few will no the score of the Cal - Auburn game.
