  1. Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

Well now, I forgot that the measuring stick for football greatness has shifted to the mighty Governors of Austin Peay and Jax State. We will see what the Cardinals are made of soon enough as they play Notre Dame, Kentucky, Clemson, and Miami.
  2. Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

Don;t give them more credit than they deserve. UNC has lots of talent, they always have lots of talent, they just never seem to do anything with it but create a diversion until basketball practice starts.
  3. What is your personal record in GT road games?

UGA 1-2 or 3 forget which. Saw the Jackets beat Georgia in 1970 17-7 in a game that was never in doubt. Mike Wysong (RIP) caught a long pass from Jack Williams right in front of me in the old end zone stands at Sanford Stadium. Auburn 1-1 Saw a game in the mid 70s at Auburn when they were...
  4. Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

"I think we have a great team" Um, nope. don't agree. Maybe top 50 or so. Great teams play great defense. Great teams don't miss critical field goals. Great teams don't damn near get their quarterback broken in two. Great teams don't waste precious seconds in crunch time fumbling around...
  5. Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

"Focused" If what I saw against Syracuse and Louisville was focused, well, what is going to happen when the quarterback breaks up with his girlfriend? We saw what happened when the first string tackle was out against Louisville, for his replacement it was matador time. This team's depth on...
  6. Some optimistic tidbits for those losing hope

Sure because there are several teams on our schedule that were reckoned by experts to be really good and they are turning out to be really bad, like UNC and North Carolina State. Miami, Notre Dame, and UGA can be considered to be near sure losses unless this team turns it around with better...
  7. Louisville Postgame

Looks that way. There is no point in singling out a particular player as all of them can do better...I hope.
  8. Louisville Postgame

Well, here is one plan B. If teams insist upon moving safeties up with a near 8 man front then have Singleton and Rutherford do quick slants or short posts that will move those safeties back in a hurry. Of course the line and the tight ends have to block. I mean really block which they show...
  9. Louisville Postgame

Herschel wasn't bouncing anything outside against an 8 man front with guys as fast as him. He wasn't going anywhere. I was posting about what I saw from Louisville.
  10. Louisville Postgame

You are right based on what we have seen so far but 57 is correct in that UNC, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech are not anywhere near what pundits thought they could be. Gee, all this time, I thought for sure Mack Brown had found his savior on defense with Mr. 404 but giving up 70...
  11. Louisville Postgame

It doesn't take a "great coach" to see the differences between this team and the one at the end of last year. Like night and day. So obvious, Stevie Wonder could see it.
  12. Louisville Postgame

That pass just before the half was a thing of beauty. King is a dangerous quarterback given any time but especially with a receiver like Singleton. Think about this. A DB cannot afford a false step with that guy or Rutherford. They are by you in a blink. The problem is the offensive line is...
  13. Louisville Postgame

Yes, unfortunately we play two of them Miami and Notre Dame (are they in the ACC or not?) Miami is the real deal. Notre Dame is Notre Dame talented but prone to sleepwalk some games.
  14. Louisville Postgame

It seemed like every time Jamal got the ball from deep in the backfield there were three guys waiting on him. Herschel in his prime would be going nowhere in that situation.
  15. Louisville Postgame

That was me. My perspective is regardless of the ranking, right now we are a bad football team especially on both lines. Put it this way, Tech at the end of last year would have run both Louisville and Syracuse right off the field, but now? We are floundering with the very real possibility of...
  16. Louisville Postgame

Don't care if they are 120%. Notre Dame is going to eat them alive. They are not all that great. Top 25 is nice but there is a huge chasm between wannabes like Syracuse and Louisville and the football factories.
  17. Louisville Postgame

I think the Irish will win handily. Much like Syracuse, Louisville is a team that has a good quarterback, good receivers, good line and a pretty good defense but they have not played a team with more talent. I don't think they will be able to handle the spotlight.
  18. Louisville Postgame

Of course not. He will take responsibility in public and scream at them in private just like Coach Saban.
  19. Louisville Postgame

Plenty of time to turn it around IF the offensive line begins to hit people and drive them back and pass block better. Otherwise, we are just a mediocre team with a good quarterback and excellent small fast receivers nothing more.
  20. Louisville Postgame

The only problem I see with that is if Pyron stumbles and Biggers falls on him, it will take five guys with shovels and a crowbar to dig him up.
