I think a better question would be name the years where Tech had a good defense. For me 1976, 1984,1985, 1990, 1998, 2006. That is about it.

2002: #27
2003: #27
2004: #23
2005: #22
2006: #27
2007: #21

Pretty decent stretch. CPJ ruined an amazing defense just like Chan ruined an amazing offense.

Wommack probably had the best college career, but 2008 and 2009 weren't especially great. Roof had probably our best year in 2015, but no other year was really great. Woody looked like he had us moving in a good direction, but this year's defense wasn't good. Al Groh as a good NFL coach who didn't know how to coach up college kids.

I guess I'll go with Roof? I don't know, it's picking the skinniest kid at fat camp here.

Boy, you really, really, honestly, truly, seriously, on your oath, do not like Johnson. Just guessing, though I hope you do not blame climate change on him. If you believe in either.

I think had CPJ not chosen to retire this year, Woody would have developed the defense to be really good. He was creating more chaos than CTR day one just with scheme changes. Given time to tweak the roster the way he wanted, I would have expected them to make strides down the road. I think our poor tackling was an extension of poor teaching under CTR.
