What weird pattern? The numbers are the same weave as the jersey. Would you prefer sewed-on or stamped on numbers? Actually, I guess the numbers are sewed on, but they are made from the same material as the jersey.

No there’s a weird pattern inside the number adidas said it was taken from the pattern of an actual Yellow Jacket last year.

Haha no seriously they really did, look real close at the numbers and those lines are apparently from real yellow jackets. I think it just looks dumb imo, no one else would know what the lines are for.

My money:
Heisman's Gray Devils or whatever was found after the decision to field a gray uniform as was the "yellow jacket pattern" which was likely a coloring artifact.
