We'll see what happens next week. We played better last week. As someone said, maybe the short week had something to do with it. I hope.

Perhaps. Still feel like we should’ve blown their doors off, but they looked generally better prepared than we did for the first 2.5 quarters. Particularly at the start. Felt like a “did just enough to win it” kind of game even though we won by 18.

Who hasn’t looked generally better prepared vs tech in the collins era?

Lol.

Also want to add -

No offensive penalties is a pretty nice fix from last week.

FG unit needs to kick 1,000 kicks a day and run stadium steps for each miss.

I’m pleased with the defense other than the first two scores they had - we held them to 3 points in 3 quarters.

I’m also pleased with the running back room. 243 yards on 34 attempts is a nice 7.1 ypc and three guys hit pay dirt running it in.

We hit 3/4 in the red zone and scored 35 points in less than 20 minutes of TOP

FOR NEXT WEEK

I want to reduce our 3 and outs

I want to find more pressure and get to the QB

We can’t leave our defense on the field for 40 minutes

No way anyone came away from this game without a realization that a division 2 school was extremely competive against us and beat us in several statistical categories. If it were a 2nd tier SEC/Big 12 school, like Houston or Mizzou or other, maybe that would be fine, but it is not.
My only issue here is you equating Mizzou with Houston....

I just don't see us having many true, fundamental football players. D. Smith, C. Thomas and N. McCollum seem to be heady players, but not many others. We have several good looking athletes but just not football smart. I believe some of that is coaching for sure but instinct and awareness are traits you either have or you don't.
for being an ole ball coach, you don't see too good.
