Ain’t no doubt about that!!I was just stating that if we lose against WCU and Duke, it ain't goin' to be pretty.

You leave out the small alumni that has lots of non giving (donate buy tickets ) alumni that demand winning before the will give. We have a vast majority of our alumni that """work great steady corporate jobs """. other schools have way more alumni that had ok jobs but lost them and started RETAIL PEOPLE ORIENTED businesses. Some become wildly successful (have free cash flow available. we need to different fund rasising approach to our alumni .IMO GC underestimated the competition he would be facing and thought all he needed was better recruiting. A lot of coaches would not consider a program with our academics and schedule with 2 built in top 10 teams every year + ND thrown in at times.
And baseball, is producing mediocre results, with better than mediocre talent. Our football and basketball programs are at all time lows. Todd is terrible
yep!Gotta be 6 and a bowl game at the worst. Or else it's time go go.
Might be alot of season ticket buyers ( like my family ) not buying this year. The last 25 years have been up & down for the most part, but after the last 3 there have been no enjoyment going to the games.Any updates on what season ticket sales looked like for this year? They should be completed by now. I am sure I am not the only one who couldn't justify the expense any longer.
After 40 years I held back from getting season tickets this year. Not saying I won't go but .......Might be alot of season ticket buyers ( like my family ) not buying this year. What makes you think any information from the AJC is worth $0.50? I've seen no evidence to support that through a few dozen years...this is why there are so many millionaires in the alumni ranks... all are tightwads who have our first earned nickel and want to get information that might cost $.50 for free. Can you imagine being an AD trying to get donations from this group?
Always wondered why folks pay for a subscription when the app is free? What makes you think any information from the AJC is worth $0.50? I've seen no evidence to support that through a few dozen years...
Seeeeee? We’re NOT cheap. We’re discerning. What makes you think any information from the AJC is worth $0.50? I've seen no evidence to support that through a few dozen years...
I just hope it’s clear, one way or the other. I don’t want another season where you have to squint your eyes and tilt your head a certain way to find justification for why a losing season was better than it looked.Didn't put a number of wins out there, but said more wins are required. Political speak, but I get it. Win 5 decently and get bad breaks in the others (injuries to key players at one time, int or fumble on game winning drive, missed chip shot fg by a kicker who is making 80%+ etc) I think he survives. Getting a bowl and winning guarantees CGC is back, which will somehow pissed off a large portion of our fanbase. Im not sure if mid season firing is a good way to go, but another poor showing and he's fired on the bus ride back to ATL after CoFH.

And this year we will see if NIL and the transfer rule makes our bad seasons worse or better.Just because Collins had an approach of heavier on recruiting doesn't mean he is excused from terrible on the field results nor is the man who hired him. NIL and the one time transfer rule didn't exist until mid last year. They had no impact on the results we have seen so far.
I don't remember actually seeing a quote from any booster who said that he knew the funds were available. There was an AJC article that paraphrased an anonymous source with "inside information", that said the funds were available. After that, there were articles that referenced that AJC article. And then there was a booster who didn't relate information known to them, but referenced the AJC article. It is amazing to me that one paraphrased statement from one anonymous source can become widely accepted as absolutely true. Especially when the paraphrased anonymous statement is relayed by a reporter who doesn't always get the facts precisely correct. Not trying to bash Ken, but he does often get exact stats, exact quotes, etc. wrong. His human side reporting is much much better than his factual reporting.
On the second point, there was a direct quote from a large booster that TStan had attached himself to CGC in the boosters minds. I think TStan has done an excellent job as an administrator and would hate to see him leave regardless of what the football program does this year.
Unfortunately that's why a hard number of wins or any concrete measure of expected performance was not put forward, It allows Stansbury the flexibility to move the goalposts anywhere he wants and claim it was good enough. I hope the impactful boosters stick to their guns though, I'm tired of mealy-mouthed hype and nonsense grasping at straws to make excuses for very poor performance.I just hope it’s clear, one way or the other. I don’t want another season where you have to squint your eyes and tilt your head a certain way to find justification for why a losing season was better than it looked.
I have searched and have not been able to find it. Ken wrote this on November 25th:It came directly from Stansbury himself in a published interview. Don't have the link, but you should be able to track it down. It was when he made his infamous "I have my man" gauntlet throwdown when asked why he was keeping the football coach after another 3 win season and fans in an uproar. They asked if it was because he didn't have the money for the buyout, and Stansbury flatly said no, he had the money and could have raised more if he needed to, but "I have my man".
Still, while the return was expected, it was not necessarily a given. Stansbury did have at his disposal the resources to make a change had he decided it was necessary, according to a person familiar with the situation.
That meant that high-level donors had enough concern about the state of the team that they were willing to foot the bill for a buyout that would have cost $10.5 million, according to the terms of his memorandum of understanding. (The total drops to $7.2 million after the 2022 season by the terms of the aforementioned agreement.)
In the other article that you are referring to, Zelnak deferred to Garret. Garret said:In the other AJC article during that time frame with Zelnak and Garrett, they made it quite clear that Stansbury has put his own career on the line by doubling down his support of the football coach, and it was quite clear Stansbury was made to understand that, during their conversations.
“I think the fact that Todd has linked his career at Georgia Tech to Geoff’s success – and I think that’s really important to know that he did that – is a positive because certainly it indicates that the administration is all in with this working and willing to accept the consequences if it doesn’t,” Garrett said.
Garrett said he did see Stansbury’s further employment at Tech being contingent on the success of Collins’ own tenure.
“That’s certainly the way I see it,” Garrett said. “Didn’t he say, ‘I’ve got my man’? He’s got his man. He’s going to have to ride him.”
No I agree with you. Hard links with actual quotes are required, especially in this social media everybody-can-make-up-their-own-facts-to-suit-their-agenda world, and there are always too many people gullible enough to accept everything on the internet as fact, add their own warping to it, and pass it on to others. Reminds me of the old Telephone game from first grade to teach the importance of accurate listening and communication skills.I have searched and have not been able to find it. Ken wrote this on November 25th:
Everything I have seen after that either refers to Ken's article or simply states something like "everybody knows that Stansbury had the money to fire him".Todd Stansbury shows his faith in Geoff Collins with decision to retain him
Georgia Tech athletic director Todd Stansbury ended any speculation surrounding coach Geoff Collins’ job security Wednesday night when he went on Collins’ radio show to confirm that he’ll be returning for his fourth season.www.ajc.com
If you have a link to ANYTHING that is more proof than "according to a person familiar with the situation", I am actually interested in reading it.
EDIT: BTW, that quote is from the exact article in which Ken quotes TStan as saying "I have my man".
As a moderator of this particular internet website, I take a fair amount of umbrage to this statement. I guarantee that everything posted on this site that is specifically not cited as opinion is either 100% factual or else is bull manure that some deluded but well intentioned soul believes to be factual. That has to count for something, doesn't it?there are always too many people gullible enough to accept everything on the internet as fact, add their own warping to it, and pass it on to others.
I have the whole article... Zelnak had a few zingers of his own. Here are a few and I'm not even going into his "My big question mark is why is Thacker still here."comment.In the other article that you are referring to, Zelnak deferred to Garret. Garret said:
Prominent Georgia Tech donors revisit their optimistic preseason projections
Before Georgia Tech began its 2021 season, Steve Zelnak and Gregg Garrett shared optimism about the Yellow Jackets’ season ahead. Their perspective was worth listening to for at least a few reasons.www.ajc.com
That is, or at least was, Garret's opinion in December. I am sure that TStan knew that. If not before he had to know it after the AJC article. However, the article does not say that Garret nor Zelnak had that conversation with TStan. I have not seen any actual indication that anybody sat down with TStan and expressed that he will be fired if the football team doesn't improve this year.
I think your recollection of the articles is skewed. Maybe there was money available for the buyout, but the closest thing to any actual evidence that I have ever seen is Ken's article paraphrasing "a person familiar with the situation". As far as I know, that person was a random drunk fan with a bloated sense of his own importance sitting next to Ken at a bar. (I don't actually think Ken would believe a random drunk guy was in the know, but he isn't always precise in his understanding of things.) Even if money for a buyout was available, it doesn't mean that there would have been enough money to hire a new coach and staff. More things are involved than simply can you fire Collins. To me it is extremely frustrating that a posted comment that is not much better than a flat out rumor has turned into absolute fact that you are ridiculed if you don't simply just accept it as fact without any evidence whatsoever.
SORRY, I was not speaking of Swarm at all, this facillitates actual dialog. I was speaking of twitter, instagram, etc. where everyone's goal in life is to be a so-called "Ïnfluencer".As a moderator of this particular internet website, I take a fair amount of umbrage to this statement.
